Park Royal is a great base for mongering. I stayed there in February 2011 for something like 70 USD a night.
Recently, the hotel prices seem to have gone through the roof.
How much die you pay and through which agency / channel did you book?

Justr left Rangoon after a nice stay at the Park Royal. There is a spa, very reasonably priced. Made a contact during an in-Spa foot massage ($20 for an hour). She suggested that I opt for an in-room body massage next day. That turned out to have been a very good move. We were both happy, I with the service and she with the tips. Saw her each day until I left. She implied that most of the otgher masseuses were also in the game. She was so petite and cute (plus decent English) that passed up the opportunity to test the thesis and stuck with her.

Yangon hotels have gone crazy now. These rates are all double and triple what they were even 2 years ago. Just not enough rooms since things have opened up. Forget value comparisons to anywhere as the supply- demand is whacked.
Try a search for Yangon travel agents and you might find one who returns email. Otherwise, Agoda. It is going to be tough as we look to high season.

Planning on side trip from BKK and Pattaya around Nov 20. Never been to Burma. Most of recommended GF hotels such as East, Traders, etc. Are already booked 5+ weeks ahead. Park Royal, I think the name was, is available, but over $200, a little steep when I pay less than $50 in Thailand. I see Panda and Clover City are affordable and available. Anyone know if GF?

I used Summer Motel (15, 000 kyat) just around the corner (NOT The Summer Palace Hotel) for my trysts : clean, accommodating, friendly.
Found a 19 year old 5'6" Mandalay spinner at JJ's with a great bod & fantastic attitude for dining then dancing (hip-hop mostly) then "together sleeping" : met her each night at 8 pm & we split up at about 1 am each night. Limited English skills but totally awesome & bold in bed.
Paid her 50,000 kyat a night for fun & frolic ...

Does anyone know if the Alfa Hotel is girl friendly? Anyone stayed there? It seems reasonably priced on AsiaTravel compared to other hotels.
