Ahh, Mr. Horatio, the ultimate question. You really, REALLY, should RTFF you know, it is a highly enjoyable exercise, but I'm going to take you at your word that you have done so.

First. 48 hours is not enough! I've been over from HK several times since my first go-round late last year, and still find new pleasures on every trip. But since that is all the time you have alloted yourself, I'd personally try to squeeze in the following (and this is not allowing much time for sight seeing). I'm also extracting a promise from you that we shall see DETAILED field reports forthcoming! (no pun intended)?

If any of you has an update on that one. Lion's bar is really a good bar to have fun (real fun like getting wasted with friends). And to be honest, I do not know any other. Would be a same if the stuff is really closed for good.

Its not closed, still open. Still Filipino's at the bar etc. Lot more hotter non working girls w / friends though it seems.

I tried to visit Lion's bar when I was last in Macau in March. The sign at the entrance to Lion's Bar (inside the MGM Grand) read "closed for remodeling." I assumed it will reopen soon. I could be wrong. It would be a shame if it is closed permanently. Does the MGM really need more slots or another restaurant? MP3 bar is an OK alternative in the meantime.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all the contributors to this thread.

I too will be traveling to Macau by myself for the first time and I come from the other side of the world where entertainment on this level is virtually non-existent, worse I am Chinese and don't speak or read the language very well, so I am assuming when I go to these places they will not treat me like a foreigner but yet I am not a local who knows the customary procedures which can proof frustrating.

So please be patience with my stupid questions.

1) Is the city safe at night?

2) Reading the forum I believe the average punt would be around $1000. $1500HKD? Or should I be bargain for lower? Please offer the average price range for massage, hotel or freelance punt etc, I have no idea how to measure. Where I am from it's around $750HKD for half an hour with no extras and $1300HKD an hour no extras and quality can be hit and miss.

3) Does the massage, casino and hotels in Macau widely accept credit cards or should I carry cash?

4) For a good time for 48 hours what should I budget for?

5) Should I buy packages at the terminal to save time? Are they worth it?

3) If you like the 'WG bar scene', try MP3 or another similar bar right next to it on what I call 'sleazy bar' street (on Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen I believe). It's an odds-on bet that EVERY female you see here will be an SP, and several nationalities are usually present, though mostly Filipina. Some would disdain trolling here, especially for Filipinas in this particular city, and say it's much cheaper and better just to go to Manila or Angeles city for that, but it IS a legitimate part of the Macau scene. I've heard others recommend Lions Bar as another good location, but can't speak to it personally. It's on my to-do list, however.

I would recomend a trip to Belini lounge at the Venetian for a similar experience.

Need to be careful with ladyboys who are known to be around the Venetian casino floor and Belini lounge.

Hello, my monger chums! I am spreading my wings to fly to new pastures in a bid to hopefully spread some more of my seed. Long story short, but I am Macau bound in a couple of days for 48hrs of (what I hope will be) mayhem. As a seasoned member, I have RTFF, but what I am looking for is a succinct, cannot-be-missed in 48hrs in Macau type thing.

Put another way, if you had 48hrs left on this planet and you happened to be in Macau, what are the must-see, must-do, must-not-be-missed things? Given this site is coochaca related, of course I am happy to be guided as to where I put the sword, but also if anyone has any gems of bars or eateries, then please do feel free to share. Am sure a lot of others will also find this v useful.

1) You need at least one visit to a top flight sauna. Rio. 18, Emperor, maybe Familia de Nobre, take your pick, and you'll get vigorous arguments from everyone as which is the best. Fact is, you can't really miss if you go in the evening, and they aren't collectively referred to as 'Man Heaven' for nothing.

2) Darling 2 for the 'fish bowl' experience only occasionally seen elsewhere in the mongering world. And though you'll once again get a stiff argument on this forum, a better value for the $$ than D1 in my opinion. As a cabbie in Macau once told me, 'Darling 1 is for tourists! '

4) got to do the Lisboa track. But unless you are Chinese or speak Putonghua, it's just for looking. Both bizarre and amusing in a way and truly one of the 'must sees' of the mongering world! If you do get lucky, I've read and heard too many accounts of a DFE to spend precious punting $$ there.

5) If you are really feeling adventurous and want to try your luck with some local (Mainland Chinese) poony, try the little hotels over by the Sofitel Hotel. See my posting at #2061 on the General Reports thread for the details on how to find these out-of-the-way pensiones, given to me by a trusted local hobbyist. Just be prepared to pay 2 to 3 times the 'local' rate, but that's still only 400-600 HKD for some surprisingly attractive action.

6) For eats, tops on the list for me would be Henri's Galley Restaurant on Avenida the Republica. Every cabbie will know it. The owner is Macanese, speaks excellent English (lived in Canada) , and his African Chicken is superb. Nice array of Portuguese wines at good prices as well. IMHO some of the best Macanese food in the city, so order with abandon, and I hope you have friends along to share in your banquet. You'll need the help!

7) Last but by no means least, go see the very heart and soul of the city, the Sao Paulo, and try an egg tart from the little shop just down and to the left as you face the facade. Yes, there will be a lot of tourists there, and for a very good reason. And yes, you can get these classic little pastries all over the city, but once you've munched on one while gazing at the incredibly well preserved ruin of this Portuguese Catholic church, you can now say you've truly been to Macau.

8) If you have the energy and time, HK, just repeat steps 1 through 3 and # 5, above.

One last thought for our moderator. Jackson, shouldn't this thread just get moved over to the 'General Reports' area?
