Don't know about her mom. I suspect Viet. She didn't want to talk about politcs. Many Viet Minh supporters were returned to North Vietnam after the war but 80,000 stayed in Thailand.

Here is a snap from my recent trip. Happy to find this lady again. She is also Isaan but not Viet.
