SouthEaster,
I was recently in Snooky in July and found the Square (easy to find), Victory Hill, the Chicken Farm, and the bars along the beach at night. Can you please tell me where Blue Mountain is?
If you are on the main road going away from the Golden Lion circle (close to the Square) where do you turn right? It looks like from a prior thread on this site with a small map that when you are going away from the beach (I stayed in Nataya Hotel) you turn right. Is it as far as the KFC or is it past the KFC? Continuing past KFC on the right you turn at a bank to go to the local market, is it that street?
Anyway, I enjoyed Snooky and plan on returning. Let's hope the Chinese do not tear down the bars in the Square.
Thanks for your help.

I live in Snooky, most of the time anyway and was asked by Askeaske to provide an update on the situation. I will keep it short.
Blue Mountain almost gone, a few shops at the beginning of the street with some less that stunning girls asking 20-30ST.
Chicken farm just about history. Maybe 10 places left with mostly has been. 1-3 girls in each place. Largely a matter of luck if you find anything to make the visit worthwhile. I used to pay 5 bucks but now most will try for 10. Have not looked in 3 months. Strangely the first 2 or 3 places you pass the girls do not and never have shown any interest in barangs. Don't know why.
Freedom Bar long since shut. What a shame.
Jam bar bottom of Serendipity gone for 2 years now.
Dolphin and area still a few freelancers. Don't know what they ask these days probably 30ST depending on time and looks (theirs!
The Square. Many bars still open although rumoured to be closing next month. Who knows Chinese are buying everything in sight. There are many attractive girls there but I hate the LD thing and the hunt in general. I like places like the chicken farm was 5 or 10 years back. See something you like, no drinks, set the price and off you go. Girls routinely ask for stupid money here. 50 bucks ST and 100 LT. Expats know better but unless they know you even if you tell them you live there they still ask for stupid money. The guys paying these prices are tourists with limited time and no idea they are being ripped off and Chinese who like to throw around money (much like the Koreans in AC) and don't care if they are being ripped off!
Good luck.

Just reading in the Air Asia magazine that they are starting 4 flights per week to Sihanoukville direct from Kuala Lumpur, on 9 August 2017. Will be good to avoid that 4. 5 hour bus from Phnom Penh. Hope the chicken farm is still up and running in Snooky.

Agree SEA is drying up. Economies are changing, girls are becoming more savy, idiots are over paying and more of us are travelling.
I remember once I read "the cheapest place to monger is probably exactly where you live" - sad. Unfortunately where I live the options are few, the cost high and the service usually poor = sad.

In a service industry negotiation it's the seller's job to try to differentiate product on price, the buyer's job to emphasise different frequencies of transaction.
I tell the girls I pay all of them the same: old, young, pretty, ugly. They are all guaranteed equal treatment. It just happens that I only target the young and pretty ones. The 'tip' they get from me is that they get picked, and picked again.
You have to establish that the price is yours not theirs. And it has to be a fair one, based on the market and what is reasonable in terms of their economy (forget about the price of Coke on Mars).
Yes, they will try to charge more. That's only to be expected.
If you do this often enough you soon find that there is no clear correlation between price and quality. Whether you 'click' or have fun with a girl is parallel to and independent of the p4 p transaction. Paying more in this context very often buys you less. Overpaying tends to result in disrespect and resentment.
And the negotiation only happens once and money is never referred to again. If they are keen to see you again you can conclude that your price is fair to both parties.
The Hostess Bars in Phnom Penh are for the most part just clip joints.

Now I book I normally a small Kmer guest house close to Lion Plaza. $ 13 for one night. Not much luxury, but neat and clean. It is air conditioned. Fits fine to me when I have a few days in Sihanoukville. I come primarily to visit friends and party. If I had to be there for a long time at ordinary holiday I would probably find a better place with pool etc.

There are many hotel options on sites like Agoda but it gets hard to compare them, nothing like actual recommendations from people that have been before.

Are there any hotels recommended for mongering visitors? I was thinking of staying in the Serendipity area as I've read many hotels are on the beach here. Looking to keep it around the sub $50 / night mark.
