Getting there by public transport:

Much is made of the belief that this place is almost totally impossible to get to by public transport but it is not quite as hopeless as that. It took me just over 2 hours from Frankfurt main station which I didn't think was so bad as this is the sort of time that I budget for when travelling to Partytreffs given that they are spread out over such a large country. I took a combination of train and taxi. A train to Weinheim and then another to Furth (Odenwald) – please note that Furth is spelt with two dots above it and you need to put the correct spelling into the bahn website to bring up this station on the route planner. From Furth there is a bus number 667 from Furth Markplatz (I presume this means market square as the literal translation is marketplace) which takes you to Weitschnitz and from there you can apparently walk 1. 5k to the location. However I was carrying heavy luggage including a bulky sleeping bag for the sleep over and didn't want to bugger around with a bus and trying to work out where to get off and which direction to walk. The bus 667 actually passes outside the station but there is no official stop there so you have to find the Markplatz or try to get the bus to stop as it passes by the station.

Furth is a rural station with no taxi rank (goes without saying) however you can search for Reichelsheim (pronounce Ry – shell – shime) taxis on the internet or phone the club and they will give you a taxi number. When you phone up the taxi company they will hardly speak any German but I just kept repeating Furth Hauptbahnof until the guy acknowledged what I was saying and then quoted the time in minuten that it would take for the taxi to arrive. Alternatively you could phone up the club and ask them to book a taxi for you to take you from the station to the club – after all it is in their financial interest that you arrive. I waited about 20 minutes for the taxi. A couple of the taxi numbers that I found on the internet were for Rimbach which is a train station a couple of short stops before Furth. Rimbach is a bigger town than Furth and so you may choose to get off there as there are more taxis companies there although it may cost more in the taxi fare to the club.

The taxi driver charged me €20 for the 5-6 km and 15-20 minute ride to the club which I thought was a rip off at the time. On the way back from the club the taxi driver used the meter and the fare was only just over €14.

The trains from Furth are one an hour so you need to get your timings right when booking the taxi from the club to the train station. There is a ticket machine at the station, a few seats in a small shelter and a shop/cafe with seats outside. There are also a couple of restaurants outside the station. However it would be an extremely boring wait if you miss the train.

Building layout:

Much has been said about the layout but it still did not accurately describe what I expected to see. The important thing to note that it is just a very large house rather than a nightclub or purpose built party venue.
