The cost of monthly rentals of apartments vs hotels (or even daily apartment rentals on Airbnb) does not add up. Ayala area is 40 K+ pm for a 1 bed and 60 K+ pm for 2 bedroom. I tried a few apartments through Airbnb. Apart from the atrocious unreliability of Cebu landlords (2 out of 5 cancelled a few days before), I found the apartments girl unfriendly. Using Avalon as an example, they required retaining ID at security. What was worse the security started talking to one girl in Cebuano in front of me. I don't want to stuff around with that.

There is a large number of apartment buildings coming on stream over the next few years so I expect Cebu to be a renters market. But most of the buildings around Ayala will be upmarket. The property spruikers are on the prowl around Ayala big time. I made the mistake of accepting an invitation to visit the display units in Ayala terraces. The hard sell tactics is a sign that they are struggling to move so much stock.

Whoa, who in the west is paying less than $1000 USD for an apartment? I live in BGC (basically the nicest part of Manila) and you can find a 1 bedroom for 50 K PHP. It will be a tad small though. In Cebu, I am sure the going rate is much less.

Depends where you want to live, the IT Park Avida is tiny trust me I have been to the tower and show room. You not swing your cutie around on you todger in that place.
