Hey I admit it, I'm so used to Thailand that sometimes I'm just not ready for these new rules in another country. I was stuck in Lapu Lapu at a cheap airbnb that I thought would suffice. First time here in Cebu, only other visit to the Philippines before this was to Manila. I made a rookie mistake, didn't do enough research and picked an airbnb in Lapu Lapu that I thought would allow me to do more exploring. But its hard to get a real impression of what traffic is like using the internet. But I've been going like a madman these last 8 months in Thailand, a girl a day with few breaks in between, sometime 2 to 3 girls in a day. So the dick and the budget does need a break so I'll just deal with it. Have to say I was really wondering if I made a mistake coming to the Philippines, not because of the mistake above but just in general. I used to travel Cebu, Manila, AC as a triangle. Fly into the country into Cebu, enjoy Cebu girls a few days. Flight to Manila (always delayed of course). Stay Manila a few days then car transport to AC. The have flight home out of Clark. I used an open-jaw international ticket and Cebu Pacific for the internal flight.

All of this was pre-covid. Plan needs to be revised for the "new" travel realities.

They eased the lockdown restrictions here at the beginning of the month, the malls started to open up, taxis appeared once again on the streets, my condo building (near Ayala Mall) allowed visitors again (they had to fill out an online 'health declaration' form before they were allowed in) but then suddenly on June 16 the authorities reimposed full lockdown again (back to ECQ) and all the malls had to shut and all taxis were taken off the roads and my condo building will not allow visitors.

All households (250,000 households, 1 million residents) in Cebu City had to apply for a quarantine pass back in March, to be shown before being allowed into a supermarket or to be shown if stopped out on the street by the police. These passes were suddenly cancelled last Tuesday and people were told to remain indoors until new passes were issued. They will be colour coded and will restrict when you can go outdoors, to just 3 days a week depending on the last digit on the pass. And no one will be allowed outdoors on a Sunday, starting fro tomorrow! Private cars are not allowed on the roads on Sundays, and are restricted to just 3 days a week during the week, depending on the last digit on their number plate. And everyone under the age of 21 or over 60 (I am in my mid 60's) is still not allowed to go outdoors, even when the restrictions were eased up at the beginning of the month this age group were still not allowed to go outdoors.

I did go out this afternoon, I have been out most days since the start of lockdown, either to go out to get food, or for a walk for exercise.

I have not been issued with my new pass so technically I was breaking the law this afternoon and could have been fined, I went to Rustans to buy some food, there were very few people out and about and very few cars.

I arrived in Cebu City from Dumaguete Friday night. It took me a full hour to figure out how to get out of the airport. The domestic side was impossible with over an hour wait for a regular cab and no responses from Grab. I finally had the insight to walk over to International where there was absolutely no line (I think due to general lack of tourists and no flights from China at all). Still, another hour and a half in miserable traffic to the ABC hotel on F. Ramos St. The hotel is clean and close to the action at Mango Square. I got there about 9:30 or so. Went to Cebu in November, here is my report.

Friday night.

Arrival. Waited in line for 2 hours immigration, that's how many people there were. From airport to ABC hotel was 500 pesos. Made a mistake and booked one night too many, sweet lady from the desk said no problem. ABC hotel is within walking distance from Mango Square Mall. Meet with a girl from Tinder. Come quickly. Pay her 2,000 pesos. Hotel is girl friendly and has good WiFi.

Saturday.

Bought internet data plan with sim card at convenience store, does not work. Starbucks has no WiFi. Bo's cafe has good wifi. There is an adult store near Mango Square.
