Would someone please confirm that if you rent a car from Avis, would Avis force you to buy its own insurance? I mean. If my Master card covers insurance, would Avis accept it? I know that other companies like Budget or Dollar kind of play tricks and force you to buy insurance which is a ripped off and do NOT accept credit card insurance coverage.

How much would Avis charge you to add an additional driver? How does Avis compare to Sixt? I've never rented from Avis but thinking about it.

If you drop off a car at another airport your going to pay alot more than the standard rate. I'm a big fan of Avis, use their 'avis basic' rate which works out to 22 euro's per day if you rent for a week. I've used many different sites, easycar, orbitz, kemwel and holiday auto to name just a few. I always fly into and out of the same airport.

I just rented a car from Avis based on B'man's advice and the rate was very good and it was very easy to reserve. We'll see how it goes on Saturday when I go to pick it up. But I don't anticipate any problems. I'm just very glad I read the forums and learned about the problems with Terstappen. Or whatever they're called. And stayed away from them!

The argument S put forward was saving money for the girls, my argument is 20 euro's per day in most case's beats the time it takes using public transportation and the cost of the taxi's almost anytime except for visiting Palace and Mainhattan.

I've been looking into renting a motorcycle next trip. The principles are the same. I have to factor in daily charge for the vehicle + mileage charge after the free kilometers run out + the high cost of European fuel. I like to stay in a hotel, so parking is required. Being an infrequent visitor, I like to look at the scenery, but I'll have to pay attention to the road / signs / other drivers. Otherwise, I may have a prolonged headache (or worse!) from a European car accident / legal wrangling. Renting may work for short layovers, but for longer stays, no thanks, I prefer to buy my ticket, pay the cabbie & enjoy the view until I am safely enjoying the view in the club!

Say you have a three day Layover, you add up public transportation and taxi rates and its almost identical to renting a car and the gas needed to drive said car around for those 3 days. You'll pay less if you only do Palace and Mainhattan but if you need to do Oase and World then a car is the only way to go. And how many here can say they travel all the way to Germany and then leave the clubs before 12pm? Not many.

Now if Oase and World were placed closer to train stations, public transportation would be more practical. As it is, taxi rates add up much faster than renting your own wheels.

Unless you are in a big hurry, I would use public transport to most of these places, possibly with short taxi rides, leaving more Euros for the girls. Download "DB Navigator" App to your iphone or similar, for all the directions of how to get there. Unless I have a very cumbersome suitcase, or are running very late, I always use train to and from Frankfurt airport. Public transport option may well be limited between 12PM and 4AM. I do not attend at those times.

I guess I have more time available than those on a lightning visit to Frankfurt, but can understand the desire to absolutely maximise time at the FKK.

BTW, train station ticket machines do have English option.
