I booked my next trip in December 2019. Was supposed to fly to FRA today for a 10-day stay in NRW. Having elderly parents and now mandatory quarantine coming back to the US, and completely unknown situation on the ground in Germany as it changes each day, decided to cancel the last minute. Ticket 800 USD booked via Expedia total loss. 10 nights hotel stay 650 USD total loss. Was able to cancel the car rental. I feel much worse about the ruined vacation rather than the money. I have that scenario on an upcoming return trip from Netherlands through London. I can't recall if border patrol officers actually look at your visa stamps to see where you've been outside of your incoming flight. Anyone know?

If you're an American passport holder you are exempt but you will undergo additional screening (at least that's what they said). If you are not, I think you will undergo extra security and based on your passport. Need to produce your ticket and receipt info, then clearly it will show you are using UK as an intermediary stop. What the UK does today may be different from what they do tomorrow, once the ban kicks in. And what they are capable of cobbling together in a week?!

When I came home a couple weeks ago, I did not see a border agent at any stop. I used automated machines in both UK (Heathrow) and US.

It's now official. Trump has just publically announced a 30-day travel ban for anyone coming from Europe (except UK) starting this Friday. That's an executive order. My understanding is that this ban only applies to foreign nationals or European citizens. That means if you're a US Resident who needs to come back after traveling to Europe within the next 30 days, you'll be able to come back in as usual. I guess if you want to travel to FKK land to monger for few days, you can come back as long as you're willing to take the Corona risk. LOL.

Yeah, and then when you are back to USA, don't go visit your grandpa, unless you want him to die.
