I have been observing this. The US dollar seems to have taken a tumble with the onset of covid 19. There was some oscillation but I notice it has been on the rise for the month of June. I am hopeful.

Yes it was round-trip, from Western USA to Frankfurt and back. The deal on June 6th, 2021, was $592 total round trip.

As of today the harsh reality is you still cannot enter Germany unless you are a EU citizen, Schengen citizen, or have proven emergency reasons. I booked today a round trip ticket for $750 from US East coast to FRA and $440 for car rental in FRA through Iceland Air second part of September. The price included extra provision for flexibility in date changes and / or cancellations through this time in 2022.

Funny you say this, I built an excel spreadsheet where I track days by sleep, work, travel time, work setup, gym time, eating, time at club and time zone differences. The rows are in half hour intervals and columns are days. I then have vlookups for each club and how many hours I'm at the club. Example I put "Sharks" in from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM that is 8 hours, which would equate to a cost of $575, this $575 is based on a number of room visits plus an average spend, some with / without extras, etc. It will also add 75 Eur multiplied by the exchange rate. Everything is based on the exchange rate, I'll toggle the EUR to USD as the trip approaches.

I then divide my total trip by the number of times I think I will orgasm. Historically I average $200/pop, after flight, hotel, car rental, food, etc...

In my long range forecast I increase the prior year forecast by inflation.

Another trick is to clear all cookies, history, etc. And NEVER EVER visit a travel website not in Private Mode. I found Brave to be the best browser to use, it's chrome based but way better. Make sure to open in Private Viewing eveyr time and DO NOT sign into Kayak until you think you've found the dates you want to travel. I believe Kayak gives better deals if you are signed in, but if signed in they may be tracking your searches. Kayak has a feature to track deals, they also give you recommendations to buy or to wait based on history.

If you use Kayak, they have a +/- 3 or 1 day, or day before, day after feature. This feature enables you to see a variety of days. One thing I noticed in Kayak, is they usually give you the best deals for the exact dates you selected. So if you did +/- 3 days to depart June 4th and return June 18th, the best deals are usually those, but it depends if they have routine flights, etc. Lots and lots of variables. So if you see something close in the table on June 3rd, update your search to June 3rd to June 18th, the price may go down.

I signed up for Scott's Cheap Flights. I think you put in your departure airport and it'll email you when they see great deals from Google Flights. The deals only last a couple days, but I like the feature. That's when I usually decide when to buy tickets to Germany. I've gotten great deals, as low as $500 round trip nonstop from Western USA to Germany. I think it costs $50 annually, but I save that after one booking.

Last deal was on June 6th and it was non-stop to Frankfurt for $592, for July 2021 through September 2021, and Lufthansa or United. I bought this right away because I figured in August most of the clubs would be open, and if not I'll just change my flight. I have started to use Lufthansa Premium Economy because it includes two checked bags (I bring monitors to work remote Monday and Tuesdays because clubs tend to be dead), seats recline more, they are more comfortable, more points etc. Because it's an overnight flight, I get better sleep in Premium Economy, so I wake up ready to go when I land. I think total was $1,300.
