Thank you for the helpful hint that it is only for paying customers. I certainly was not aware of it, being new to this site. After seeing your comment, I looked around and I do see a disclaimer that the site is not taking payments from US residents. I need to explore this more. I assume this is a recent issue, as the disclaimer makes a reference to a date in 2018 from whence payments for US residents became problematic. Obviously, there must be many paying American subscribers here who have been here for a longer period.

As for your other comment here, I sense a bit of hostility or snarkiness. I don't believe that the world is coming to an end due to any of the issues you mentioned. I am missing the relevance of the Green deal here, and I think the 2017 law was well in the past and I don't know what kind of discussions took place then. The visa issue that cropped up is topical and recent and we are having a brief discussion. I understand you want to discourage such discussions for a reason, perhaps you believe they do not belong on this forum? If so, I respect your opinion but I think it is of interest to mongers who hail from outside Europe visiting European destinations.

2017 - New law banning BBBJ, AO and any bodily fluid exchange or touching in Germany.

2021 - New law requiring ETIAS.

2030 - Total end of the world if the Green New Deal is not implemented by USA.

Good catch, you have a sharp eye. I should have said "5% are denied easy and quick processing". As you said, it remains to be seen how it is implemented and what happens to those that are denied clearance at the first try. Do they need to submit more documentation, do they need to visit an embassy, is the application denied due to misspellings, missing details and other simple issues or do they weed out certain applications?

I realized I misspoke as soon as I hit "upload report" button but alas it was too late. I wish I could re-edit some of my comments but this site is not allowing me any second chances, and I am not very careful when typing on social media sites. Perhaps the site owner can be kind enough to allow re-editing, at least for a short amount of time. But many times my comments take several hours to appear here.

BTW, separate topic but the currency exchange keeps shifting in favor of Americans. A year ago around this time, I visited Europe and withdrew roughly $4,000 during the trip. At $1.24 per Euro, I received approximately 3220.

Now, at $1.12 to the Euro, I expect the same $4 grand with fetch me 3,570.

The additional 350 Is a tidy amount for another couple of sessions, or a better hotel. Something our American friends here need to consider.

EU seems to be making a statement is Akibono's point. My understanding is USA singles out five EU countries, so people from Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Cyprus undergo additional scrutiny. EU wants them all to be treated equally. Sort of like one of us going to GT with a black friend. If he gets turned away at the door, the decent thing to do, even if you are not directly affected is to boycott GT, at least for that day.

Curious if the 60 countries also had "unfair" visa policies which treated those five countries differently from the other members of the EU.

Not so sure about that either. For instance, Romanians, Bulgarians, Cypriots, Poles, and Croatians do not currently need visas to travel to Canada, Australia, Japan, and most of South America. Despite that, those countries will become ETIAS countries.

This is clearly not a reciprocity issue.

It only sounds political because we're making it all about the USA but other countries are on the new visa requirement list too. Canada, New Zealand, Brazil, Israel, Singapore, etc total 60 countries on the ETIAS list, many of those same countries enjoyed Visa free travel before.

Interesting find about the other countries affected. I only looked at the CNN article that was linked. It seemed to make it all about the USA.
