You might be interested to know that guys from India have not as yet gained a bad reputation in Peru. Now my question is this. Why need to winge about traveling to a place where they don't like people from particular country / region repeatedly. Drove along the East Coast Highway, from Cebu City up to Bogo, and then across to Hagnaya. Took the RORO Ferry across to Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.

Beautiful white sand beaches and a small but apparently flourishing expat community. Several beach resorts. Unexpectedly decent Italian and German restaurants, plus several other western restaurants. No obvious night life, apart from eating and drinking. Seemed very quiet and peaceful overall, although busy with tourists.

The next day, drove around the island for several hours, past the small airport (small charter flights only, and even skydiving classes) to Bantayan City with its old St Peter & Paul Church (reportedly one of the oldest parishes in the Philippines, founded in 1580) and then up north to Madridejos, with moldering Spanish fort ruins, then back to Santa Fe.

A few days later, on the way back to Cebu City, missed the turnoff from Hagnaya to to Bogo, and wound up driving down what proved to be the West Coast Highway. Although undergoing repairs in certain stretches, it was much less congested than the east coast. Fortuitously, following another car (with unknown driver) turned off at Balamban and drove over what proved to be the Trans-Coastal Highway. A lovely mountain road, with gorgeous views.

Somehow, wound up at the Topps Mountain View area of Busay. Enjoyed an Italian dinner at La Tegola in Busay, with a panoramic view of Cebu City beneath. From there, it was a simple jaunt down Busay to Nivel Hills.

Actually enjoyed the drive back, a first for me here.
