Hotel Castillo- a decent, modernish, "de paso" hotel halfway down the Tlalpan strip that charges 290 pesos for six hours. Nice and clean, in a safe neighborhood, and a quick 100 meters from the main entrance of the "Ermitas" station. When getting off the subway (which is elevated at that point), you ignore the immediate stairs down to street level and instead continue in the same direction the train is heading along an elevated corridor that travels above the street for almost a block. The corridor eventually sends you down to the street, where you continue walking (same direction) the additional 100 m to the hotel. There are no taco stands or shops or anything between the station and the hotel- fewer people, thus fewer potential issues. The area seems fine, though, and was recommended by one of the girls I saw (who will neither attend at Amazonas or Mexicali because of safety issues). I think this would be an ok option for spending the night, though you are a little isolated from taco stands, etc in both directions.

Hotel Montreal- at the end of the Tlalpan metro line (Linea 2, Tasqueña station). A decent hotel where I actually spent the entire night. There are clean, good, busy taco stands a block from the hotel. The hotel has a restaurant, but even a housekeeper at the hotel suggested eating elsewhere. Rooms to the side have no street noise. Neighborhood is ok- felt safe in immediate vicinity. Not all that easy with a roller bag. Regarding the hotel, the rooms are decent, beds are hard. Nicely dressed couples and families. My overnight price was $32, and I think the 6 HR rate is 320 pesos. I've seen rooms for $19 on hotels.com if you get them a month or two in advance.

Hotel Castro- decent place convenient to La Roma Norte. The neighborhood where I primarily stayed. A wee bit pricier at 380 pesos for 6 hrs. Not sure if I would stay there overnight, though I'm sure it would be fine. Neighborhood definitely less sketchy than Tlalpan, though it did feel shifty in the evening. A quick half mile Uber ride to La Roma Norte, where there are police cars with flashing lights at the entrance of every street. Must be wanting to keep the gringos safe.

I, too, was in Mexico City recently and am happy to share the handful of experiences I had, along with a few tips re: hotels, neighborhoods, etc. As Barcelona has long been my gold standard for this kind of dating- in terms of ease, safety and quality- I was hoping that Mexico City would deliver in these categories as well.
