I just got back from CR and Jaco Beach. The area is pretty safe to walk around even at night. Some solid bars and restaurants to explore. Went to hotel Cocal for lunch on the patio overlooking the water. Food was good, several chicas hanging around the place. We came back that night and the place was hopping! Plenty to pick between. Fun place with good music. Picked up a very hot chica and brought her back to the hotel for some fun. $150 and had a great time. Great body. Next night we went to Orange Pub and had bottle service. Started out a little slow, but really picked up as it got a little later. Again, plenty to choose from. IMHO, no real need to arrange anything on an app. I prefer to window shop to see what catches my eye that night. Hope that helps some of you going there. Have fun and stay safe.
TN.

My Latin / South America tinder results have been fantastic in fact just about the absolute reverse of North America.

Years ago, and I'm talking 10 or more years ago. Gringo Gulch was dangerous at night in fact the further you go down ave 1 the worse it gets. And Jaco was bad back then too. Once it gets past 10/11 at night a lot of Muchachos do start to roam around looking to rob the tourist. I was living in PZ at the time and went to Jaco plenty of times. I remember there was a newly built row of. 6 or 7 Condos in Jaco, purchased mostly by Gringos. One night a group of Ticos, armed broke thru the gate, tied up the security guard and went through every condo and stole everything they could. No One got killed but they roughed up the residents and a lot of them soon sold out at a loss. I remember one night around 1 am I was walking from the DEL Rey to the Hotel Morazan where my room was. I was drunk, stupid, with a girl and walking along the fence of the parking lot. 3 or 4 of the teens surrounded me and grabed whatever Colones I had and ran away. And that was long ago so I'm sure, as crime will do, it must be much worse today. Be safe, take cabs, don't get drunk and stay alert.

Off topic, and I know I could just go to that thread, but could you provide a quick review of Sao Paulo? Would you recommend it over Rio?

All that being said, you can still have a great weekend in Jaco, but it will certainly cost you much more than many other destinations and you are not as likely to get GFE. I personally would never recommend Jaco to anyone when many cities in Colombia and Mexico provide a much better time.

San Jose is dirty, old but has plenty of Pension for day time action and at least 4 pick up places in evening. Jaco has none in day time and only one in evenings which was very slow last month except on weekends. Both are safe during the day, risky in the night. Jaco is terribly hot and sunny during the day, San Jose is lovely before cloud roll in around 2 PM. Rates are higher or much higher in Jaco, lot more mercenaries.
Test both for yourself and then decide.
