US man shot, killed outside Jac club.

A 38-year-old USA Man was killed in the Pacific beach town of Jac outside of a club early Wednesday morning, according to the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ). A friend confirmed the man was John Lonergan of Florida.

OIJ's head of operations Michael Soto Rojas said Lonergan left the club with a woman at around 4:20 in the morning.

They were hailing a taxi when a man approached them and offered them drugs, Soto said. The couple declined and got in the taxi.

The man who tried to sell them drugs, who has yet to be identified, opened the door and tried to drag the woman out of the car, according to OIJ.

A fight brewed and the unidentified man pulled a gun and shot Lonergan twice. He died in a local clinic, according to OIJ. The gunman fled and had yet to be captured as of Wednesday evening.

Lonergan left behind a wife and two children, ages 3 and 13, according to his friend, who wished not to be identified.

My first time to Jaco and the local talent did not disappoint. Spent 4 days exploring the area and going to the beach and then one day in SJ. Don't advise getting to Jaco much before Thursday as the talent pool is rather limited earlier in the week. However, hold on once the troops arrive as there is talent galore! Most of the talent is at Croc's and the Cocal, standard rates apply - $70-80 for an hour. Let me remind newbies looking to get away for a long weekend, you have to and-E-G-O-T-I-A-T-E for the best price as these girls are very street wise and are experts at separating you from your money. Do not take the first price as we all will pay for your mistakes. Given that this was my first trip to CR, I enlisted the help of Eduardo49 as he has lived in the area for 10 years and knows the lay of the land quite well. I strongly encourage first timers to reach out to him prior to making your trip as he can make it much better!!

Group of us coming down and we have a nice upscale place. Preference is to bring girls back and drink and hang out vs. Just getting into the act. What's the best approach to have girls stay for 2 to 3 hours incl 1 SOG?

Obviously they are there to make $ and would rather be in and out and see other clients. Whats reasonable price to pay for all night?

I'm thinking if they maybe see 3 clients a night (this is just a guess likely a lot more) then they'd make $300 so if you offered them $250 and you're reasonably decent looking with good personality and fun to hang out and provide alchohol, food and / or other party favours they'd hedge their bets and take the safe $250 ?

Also is going rate of $100 for one SOG? Or one hour? And would girls charge the same rate just to hang out?

I spent 4 nights at the CROCS on Aug 17-20. Booking.com had a rate of $150 a night which was only $30 more than a crappy Cocalroom with no internet. PVT picked me up at SJO and I had checked both bags since they free on Southwest. Bad idea as my carryon was lost so I had no laptop, billfold, speakers or car keys.

Checked in to a very nice room albeit facing the mountains and parking lot. PVT and I had a couple of drinks at the very nice bar and then proceeded to Cocal. We arrived just as they were closing and only a couple of chicas left. A Medellin chica offered herself and we had a deal until I requested besos and she ran away like crazy after that. I didn't care as I was tired so taxied back to CROCS and went to sleep.

Walked into a massage place near where the river crosses the next day a got a massage from why and also her phone#. Had some food at Los Amigos where I always eat when I am in Jaco. Walked on to the COCAL at 5 pm and looked around. Talked with a very attractive chica who wouldn't budge off $200 and said only 1 pop then she will leave. Ran into a couple of Nicas one a very cute spinner with big black eyes. Offered $100 for her and she accepted. Off to the CROCS and she was in short, short cutoff jeans and a halter. Got a disapproving look from front desk and she said we have to wait until 6 pm to go to my room. So I asked the Nica if she wanted drinks or something to eat while we waited. She wanted neither she wanted an extra $100 for waiting. Usually Nicas are pretty accommodating but one demands an extra $100 to wait in the very nice bar. I went to the bar, got some change and handed her a 5 K bill and she was quite surprised as I told her no mas.

Back at the Cocal around 7;30 pm I met a very nice chica from a town near Jaco. She showed me pics of her little girl and I really should have sessioned with her. But I had plans with why after she got off at 9. Why called and said she was off, so I told her to meed me at Los Amigos. I waited and waited and was about to give up when she shows up about 9:45 pm. We get in her car and I tell her how to get back to CROCS and we have a very nice TLN and I pay her $100 for the service. I was calling Southwest about my bag every few hours and got transferred around and this airline has no customer service.

Called K and she was ready to drive to Jaco. I have been wife up with this chica the last few trips and she arrives looking great dressed nice for this hotel. We have a few drinks and up to the room. We mostly just hung out at this very nice place. The bartenders are beautiful and friendly as are the Casino dealers. I got 55,600 colones for $100 US at the casino which was better than the bank where I got 54,800. The CROCS is a very nice hotel for WIFI up with a chica, a great pool and I will return as soon as I can. I would say CROCS was full on Saturday but occupancy was maybe 50% on Wed or Thurs.

Anyone know of any nice upscale hotel located closer to Cocal than Crocs?

Maybe try renting a condo? For ex. Vista del Mar. Is high end, chica friendly and much nicer than any hotel.

I would not consider any of the hotels close to the Cocal to be upscale. Crocs is upscale but is about half a mile from the Cocal. I would not expect much action there but it is chica friendly if done with discretion.

If you aren't able to visit on Thursday-Saturday, is it still worth coming to Jaco? It's looking like I'll be in CR Sunday-weds, would love to go to Jaco and spend some time by the water. However, if it's totally dead those days I'd reconsider my plans.

Jaco is never totally dead. A slow night is still great. Splitting time between San Jose and Jaco requires travel time and time to adjust. I'd choose one or the other on a short trip and not try to squeeze in both.
