    Time in Jaco Beach

A lot of info on here has been posted for the traveling monger, here is some info that may help those traveling with family and looking for fun. The mongers obviously stay at Hotel Cocal, but other travelers will look for other locations. One great location is the Monte Carlo condominiums (there is a Monte Carlo hotel, not the same place!) , good prices, spacious (2 bedroom, living room laundry room, etc.) , good location, etc, located north central Jaco Beach along the main street, about a block east from the intersection with the Mega Super shopping complex and ReMax (about 15 minute walk to the south to get to Hotel Cocal). One could log in "guests" here as well, but this is info for other travelers. Just north of the Mega Super shopping complex are the Monkey Bar and a bit further but only a few minutes walk are The Bar (formerly the Beatle Bar) and the Patio Bar (virtually side by side) , each of which surround a narrow entrance to the Cadillac Rock Hotel.

If one can get away late afternoon (go for a "walk") , one can go to The Bar and Patio Bar and may find one or more working girls around either bar, meet briefly over a drink and quickly move up to the Cadillac Rock Hotel. Alternatively, one can stay up to work a bit or go out 10pm or later, and go to The Bar and Patio Bar and definitely find several or more girls between the two bars as well as girls later starting to congregate at the Monkey Bar and even around midnight on the corner at the Mega Super shopping complex, and again, go to the Cadillac Rock Hotel. Either way, one can get a room at the Cadillac Rock Hotel for short time for $25, and even get a box of 3 condoms for 2000 colones if needed. If staying at the Monte Carlo or near the little bridge just south (next to the outdoor smoothie bar or Surf Dogs) , one could get up to that bar area, meet a girl and have a beer and chat, go to the hotel, and get back to your lodging in an hour or so easily enough.

Also, for San Jose, one can stay at a downtown hotel such as Gran Hotel or somewhere very central and walk a few blocks to Hotel Del Ray Casino, quickly meet a girl, have a beer, and go to a shady short time place around the block (1 block east, then south on that block, on the right) for $10 (not including the girl, condoms, etc.) and get back to your lodging in an hour or so easily enough. Obviously getting away from a hotel room can be more difficult, but if one has to "work", one can go down to the lobby for better wifi reception (sketchy in some hotel rooms) and / or to avoid keeping travel companions awake, and get the deed done (just find a place to stash your laptop like behind an ice machine or under a hotel floor sofa). But San Jose is severely lacking for a travel destination (other than a monger looking to lurk in Del Rey for some time).

    $3, 200

$3, 200 in Jaco at the Cocal plus trans and lodging is a high-end price. Although I can get tempted to get carried away like that myself when I was at the Cocal. I got by with $2, 500 for 5 days and plenty of great action each day and this includes transportation and lodging. If you want an expensive room at the Cocal it could be more, but whoever spent $3, 200 sure must have had a great time and I am jealous. But that is not typical.

always, everywhere, door checkers or not, doesn't stop them. if it looks young, pass on it, so many others. borrowed cedula's is not unheard of in cr. if she's using her sister's, and they look somewhat alike, now what? or, if she won't show you her cedula, another watch out.

we've all heard the shakedown stories, how true and how often is an open q. why risk it-most of those 18-20's newbie's are kind of dippy and mechanical and often follwoing the instructions of her older girl friends, and one of their rules is often clock watching.

    The Bar

Bimmy, the Bar is the original Beatle Bar next to the Patio. Not to be confused. It reopened 2 weeks ago with the original owner, Jeff. He owns the building but not the name Beatle Bar, hence he had to change the name to, Just "The Bar". Come on back down for a visit.

I was there 3 months ago and the BAR as you call it was the PATIO BAR, but still run by the original owner. Have they changed the name of the place again?

    Another Crazy Jaco weekend.

Cocal is over running with working ladies. Right now 5-7 to 1 ratio. My guys are reporting $60-$100 per session and it's really your choice of local Tica's, Dominicans, Nicaraguans, Colombians and Panamanians.

Monkey bar is packed and the BAR (formally know as the Beatle Bar) is now open with the original owner running the place.

I tell my guys,"if you are in Costa Rica Thursday. Sunday, you want to be in Jaco right now.

' The rest of the days and nights San Jose.

    Jaco Hotel review

Hotel Canciones Del Mar: Good Hotel located right on the beach, is guest friendly and has a decent sized pool where you can enjoy with your guests or hang around with a drink from the bar. They have a little bar right next to the pool. Rooms are a very good size and have a kitchenette / living area and the bedroom is separated by a sliding door. The beachfront rooms are slightly more expensive but have a balcony where you can relax or party with your friends and worth the extra $.

Free wi-fi is available and it's pretty reliable and fast.

Staff is good. They had some billing issues in their system when I was checking out and tried to overcharge but a quick talk and proof of payment resolved everything.

The hotel is about a 2 minute walk from the main street on a quiet (at night) street but nothing dangerous or intimidating at all. It is located within one block of the Monkey's bar and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Cocal. Taxis from Cocal are about 1000-1200 Colones on the meter, some might charge you 2000 Colones flat rate if you can't convince them to use the meter, especially at night if you are with a Cocal chica.

Overall a great place and recommended.

Poseidon Hotel : Very central location just steps away from the Beach and the Orange Pub where you can find some decent action on weekends after 1 AM or so. Hotel is guest friendly and no problems getting your Cocal company in with you but the owner and staff expect you to be discreet if doing so during the day as there are a lot of families staying there and their restaurant always had lots of people over lunch and dinner. Rooms are pretty big and have 2 queen beds with a very attentive housekeeping staff. Less than a 10 minute walk to the Cocal and taxi is around 700 Colones.

If you want to book any tours and activities you can do so directly through them or walk across to the many places next door.

Location is unbeatable and a decent place to stay at.

Both Hotels were good but Canciones Del Mar was more comfortable.

    A. T I think some are confused about airport exchange. When mentioning BAC San Jose, it's a Bank, not you normal currency exchange center. Everyone knows a currency exchange center, like you find in the baggage claim area is a rip off. BAC San Jose Bank is located upstairs in the departure area and is not a rip off. Their exchange rate is the same as it is in all of their banks located through Costa Rica. Sometimes they are a few colones higher than Banco National and BCR, sometimes they are not. However, I am not fond of their policies. Lines are long, they are slow and they ask stupid questions. This is why I recommend the Servimas at Walmart.

    Exchange in Costa Rica

Good question and I forgot to address it. As you check in at the Cocal, they have posted a sign that say their exchange rate is 500 to the Dollar. So, as you will see, if you exchange there, you'll loose 10% right off the bat. Exchange a $1, 000, loose a $100. That's an extra session. This is what my clients do, per my advise. 90% of the time. I take them to Walmart by the airport. No line, no hassles, better exchange rate than BAC San Jose upstairs at SJO and they don't ask you a bunch of stupid questions like,"where are you staying?" Here's a link that might help. http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/...rom=USD&To=CRC. Today's rate is 550 to $1

Also, you can get supplies like water, sodas, beer, snacks, mixers and your favorite prophylactic to keep you safe, while you are at Walmart. I really do not have a 2nd choice.

Do you advise exchanging money at the airport or wait till I get to cocal and go to the bank. If you know the bank requires you to bring passport or other things to exchange money.

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't change money at the airport, some people do upstairs vs downstairs for a better rate. If you go to the bank you'll need your passport they have turned me down on a photocopy but you never know. I would go to the bank.
