In all my encounters at BB, I never had a really bad experience. General recommendations for a chica are usually quite useless as everyone has their own preferences. The very same chica could be a blast on Monday and a so-so experience on Tuesday due to lack of sleep, a hangover, a sick kid at home, or a million other reasons. If your Spanish is decent try to talk to chicas or find the one who speaks at least a little bit of English. Google Translate is also an option.

Thinking about making a trip soon to DR. Is this generally the best first timer resort? I'm a veteran traveler to Brazil. Looking for the 411 for a newbie including hidden taxes, fees and general info that's good to know. Also curious about the beaches and best locations to visit.

I came back from Blackbeards a few days ago, was there for only a day and change and had to fly out. Everything is normal, the girls were fine, meet some cool dudes there as well that helped me with a phone connection. They have a place were you can go to take the antigen covid tests that were accepted by jet blue when I came back to the states. I'll be back in a month or so.

Just returned from my trip to BB. The future owner was staying there too & I hung with him. He is a Canadian guy, really normal extremely friendly, that earned $ by working several adventures and the stock market, especially hit on Tesla. He signed before John passed, but Covid, the trust, etc put a delay on proceedings. He hopes to close in a few weeks, as he has a new lawyer now in the DR. Everything will remain the same at BB and he hopes to make some improvements too. Things are normal at BB, except during Covid the events aren't real. The chicas dress and they take pics, then go back to normal. LOL The current chicas are pretty good right now. About 40 total with normal shifts, even during curfew. The weekends I was there, curfew was at noon, so only 1 shift chicas working 10:30 AM for 12 hours. About 30 on each weekend. During the weekdays, about 8-10 daytime and at least 20 night shift. The staff is still the same minus a few, no new ones. The rapid antigen test they have set up is in Puerta Plata for 2000p, results and tests in less than 1 hour. The place that HD mentions is way cheaper than the 3 in the PP area on the list the embassy provides. The only tests accepted are PCR and antigen.

To me, and I would suspect it is true for all here that the money even if it is a higher amount, would not kill anyone.

What I am curious about, the reason why I wrote to the original poster as to whether he has had a personal experience is that, the three other places would not budge from their 72 hours time horizon. This other place on the other hand is speaking of an hour? A typical PCR test in my personal experience, took about 24 hours on two occasions I took it. So I am little skeptical of the kind of test this lab in POP is doing. As you said, only PCR and Antigen tests are acceptable by the CDC and if it is truly one hour, it has to be a "rapid Antigen test".

I would be curious to know more about it, including the acceptance of such a test by the airlines, not to speak of how reliable, in reality, the service is, in terms of their one hour promise and the duration of process. I know someone who went to Clinica Bournigal and had to hang around, essentially for the whole day, just for the sample, apparently in a crowded space.

I returned on the 25th, so no test required. Just passing off info from Blackbeards and talking to Nicco & Martha. Taxi Mafia fare is about $30 US to the lab mentioned round trip.
