This will be my first trip to the DR and will be staying for 4 days starting July 4th! Thanks again for all the info you have all provided.

Again my thanks for all the advice! I've also been looking at many of the general travel bloggers on YouTube who post vids about life, vacations, and living in DR, especially the north coast. This has really helped me get a good idea of local culture, and how to get around town and interact with local businesses safely and cheaply. Most importantly, they helped my understand the typical scams and risks to avoid while visiting the area.

Appreciate your and other's feedback. One more question about asking a third party to help translate for me, please.

I am, perhaps needlessly so, a bit hesitant to ask a third party to relate some of my more personal preferences to the Chica about things like oral, DATY and some LIGHT Dom / Sub or DDLG play. Should I not worry about being embarrassed and perceived as an old, creepy pervert? I am already planning on talking to the Mamasan when I first meet her about my preferred type of women and even tipping her a few hundred (maybe up to 1,000?) pesos for helping me find my best matches.

How do others navigate through these more "sensitive" conversations?

Just download offline packages in Google Translate app and you'll be able to use it when wi-fi is down. Any speech recognition app would not work very well as most chicas speak in Dominican Spanish with the usage of colloquial and slang and you would have poor results quite often, stick to keyboard use. A few years ago Spanish Sex phrasebook used to be available for borrowing at the reception.

You should not worry about being embarrassed and perceived as an old, creepy pervert. Any chica after a few months in BB probably have heard and done things that would make you blush LOL. Think about mamasans as doctors, just tell them what you need, they've seen it all. You may want to print out a few of your preferences WITH DEFINITIONS in Spanish to avoid misunderstanding.

Before I learned enough Spanish, Google Translate and Sex phrasebook helped a lot.

Hell no. Glory in it. You are obviously unaware that the DOM in Dominican Republic stands for "Dirty Old Man".

Unless you carry a stuffed baby marmoset, an 18th century footman's tunic and a bicycle pump in your suitcase, you are unlikely to suggest any activity the chicas, and especially the mamasans, have not heard of, and in most cases experienced, many times before. What makes you think you are so special?

Seriously, anything which does not cause them appreciable pain or discomfort, or is a health risk, or wil spoil their hair or clothes, is do-able. That's their job.

Using translators are good if you are staying at Blackbeards, but between the chicas who speak both Spanish and English, who can translate for you, the hotel staff who are bilingual, and other mongers who can also serve this purpose I am sure that you are not going to have any problems at the hotel. You can even email Blackbeards about this but the times I've been there, even without me using Spanish, it wasn't too hard communicating. There is always someone who is bilingual, on site. I hope my advice helps.

Using translators are good if you are staying at Blackbeards, but between the chicas who speak both Spanish and English, who can translate for you, the hotel staff who are bilingual, and other mongers who can also serve this purpose I am sure that you are not going to have any problems at the hotel. You can even email Blackbeards about this but the times I've been there, even without me using Spanish, it wasn't too hard communicating. There is always someone who is bilingual, on site. I don't think it's worth it to get a separate translator. You can just put your phone on airplane mode the whole time and use WIFI connection to use google translator on your phone or some other app. Most of the girls at BB speak enough english to get by to communicate with you. If not you can always get another guy or chica to translate for you. Mamasans will be more than happy to help you with anything. Have a fantastic time there.

If nothing else, learn your numbers, and basic things like: How much? You will be OK at Blackbeards. There are usually a few Chicas that speak passable English if you want to have some conversation. I have a fee app on the Iphone called ITranslate that seems to work OK.

I going to work on this with whatever free trainers I can find on the internet / YouTube, but I'm also looking at buying a translator device like a Pocketalk (https://www.pocketalk.net/). This is separate from my phone (where I assume I can use Google Translator app) and it uses WiFi, mobile data or a hot spot to connect to the internet. It's a bit pricey (300 USD), so I'm wondering if it's worth the expense. Plus I'm wondering how awkward it would be to have my negotiation discussion / requests blast out from the speaker, or do I just use the display screen?

Anyone have experience with one of these? There are two or three other devices on the market as well. The other one I've looked at closely has two Bluetooth ear buds; one for me and one for the other person. That model seems better for (sort of) privacy. But will a Chica want to stick something in her ear that was handed to her by a Gringo?

Appreciate any feedback on these or other tips for managing language issues.

I admit to being tech-challenged, but I would recommend you use some of the time to get some basic phrases down, practice them, before, and with the girls. I would give you something to interact with. Use the device for backup as needed. Check out Youtube for a lot of free language courses online. For help with the X rated phrases, check back with the boards for free coaching.

I have stayed at BB on 2 ocassions. I will never go back. 10 days would be torture. IMHO the girls were ok nothing spectacular..

Two days at BB was enough. That was ten years ago though. My two days there was a mixed bag. I had a dark chica that fucked me like it was our honeymoon. I went out that night to PP and did not pick up any chica because I thought they were avail in BB all night. To my surprise, the place was shut down like a max security prison! I had to have the guard call me a chica, and luckily one came for me. The next day was the bikini contest, which was great, and some New York guys threw a party for all chicas in the penthouse, which I happily attended. It was a blast. The girl I picked had a nice body, but she refused to take off her top to show me those big tits! I could have made a big deal, but I don't like drama.

I found the Sosua women to be a bit hardcore, and preferred the Haitian sweetness. I would go back to both places because its been so long ago.

Thanks for the ideas and feedback. I have scheduled 3 or 4 open days for possible trips into Sousa. I don't mind the 'seek and acquire' process as it seems similar to other mongering locations like Tijuana's Zona Norte and Singapore's Orchid Towers. But I wonder if it's practical to bring a girl back to BB with me since it looks like a 45-minute taxi ride. Are there short term or low cost rooms available in Sousa I can rent as needed (maybe for 3-5 hours)?

I suppose I could bring a girl back to BB for an overnight, but that seems more risky and problematic.

Finally, is there a Chica "market" in nearby Puerto Plata? Maybe a smaller version of Sousa?

To each his own. Some enjoy the process of "fishing" and catching their dinner, some just want to eat fish.

If you have only a short time for a vacation, or lack the patience to spend time finding the "fish" you want, BB is a good choice.

My experience with Sosua was the opposite of the one described. Looking here, looking there, different bars, up and down the streets. Approaching one, transport or stroll back to the hotel, Rinse / Repeat.

I always found the variety of girls at BB to be acceptable. Easy to arrange any 3 somes, or "Happy Hours" and sessions in the Jacuzzi. The room is also just yards away, not down the block.

There are benefits and drawbacks to both, but in the end, everyone has to find what pleases THEM.
