I would suggest BB for first timers. Only drawback is that the place becomes boring due to lack of activity and surroundings. You can have sex with 3 or 4 chicas but after the sex, you do not have too many options to entertain yourself unless you go to beach by yourself.

I only stayed there once, on my first DR visit. I stayed two weeks and was never bored. I could happily have stayed another two.

True there is not much going on in Costambar but you can get to Puerto Plata city and back by publico for less than two dollars. For nervous newbies, I recommend doing this in the daylight when BB is quieter, and getting back before dark. I think the last "JC" publico to Costambar leaves the city about 5 pm but you would need to check as I have not done it for many years.

Make sure that you mingle with other gringos and entertain yourself with their company.

I met one American there and learned a lot about the DR and putas from him. Nice guy and I missed him when he left. But then I hooked up with another guest, a limey. Their company, the girls' company, and some time on my own made a nice balance, so never bored.

One advantage of mixing with other guests is that there may be opportunities to share taxis for outings. Three or four guys sharing a taxi works out real cheap.

My cousin was leaving Blackbeard's for the airport and the rest of our friends were leaving on the same exact plane. They had arranged a van to take them that was not affiliated with BB or the mafia, so he was going to hitch a ride with them. But one of those taximob SOB's sat and waited for the very moment they left to say that they had too many people in the vehicle, and that someone would have to take him. I had some choice words for that SOB, since I wasn't leaving and thought that it was none of his fuckin business about who was riding along, but he was persistent and my cousin ended up caving to his demands, but there's no fuckin way I would let him snatch me from a ride I had already arranged.

If yes, there is a pharmacy across the street from Jenny supermarket near the main gates of Costambar. Generics are DOP 50 per pill, originals are about DOP 500.

The problem with taxi mafia is only when you leave FROM Costambar, not when you arrive. These assholes charge you DOP 2,000 instead of DOP 500-550!

I would recommend sending the following message to the driver-When you enter to Costambar if asked by the guards at the gate where are you going, just tell them that you picking up a friend, do not mention Uber. Cuando ingrese a Costambar si los guardias le piden a la puerta a dónde va, solo dígales que está recogiendo a un amigo, no mencione a Uber.

The taxi mafia isn't allowing Uber into the airport regularly yet, I wouldn't chance it. The most you are going to negotiate a taxi down to is $35. If 10 bucks is that important to you call Carlos, he might do it for $35 depending on on his schedule, his number is 829 918 1172.

Also, if I don't take BB's pickup, can a regular cab be negotiated down?

You have gotten some good info already, but here's a little more. If the cash is a big issue, consider posting to coordinate with any mongers who may be arriving on the same flight, to share the fare to Costambar.

I always thought that it was so stupid to get in line for the tourist card, go through the customs line only to hand over the tourist card 2 minutes later to somebody. It just made arriving more difficultand time consuming.

I'm flying into SDQ and driving to the North Coast and it is one less thing to worry about. Thanks.

You got your answer, so this is extra. I recently flew in / out of POP, and also looked around for the usual tourist card kiosk, but lacking that, went right into the line with my customs card. A new addition to the process was the photo taking of fingerprints at the customs booth, but that was very quick. Best of luck to you, and take care.

I am used to flying in and buying the $10 tourist card before customs only to hand it to someone right after passing thru. I read somewhere it is now part of the airline ticket fees. Is this correct? I would feel stupid looking where to buy it if things have changed. Thanks in advance for your help.

I just checked Delta into STI and the tax is included. I have read that this is for all flights now.
