Given a bit of spare time during the week, it's always a difficult choice between whether to go to a tried and tested place, or to risk the uncertainties associated with a new place.

On Sunday evening then, feeling a bit more like a gambler, I started hunting on WeChat for "People Nearby" my office, in Deira. The always-efficient WeChat quickly came up with quite a few profiles with numbers.

A few of the numbers rang without anyone answering; some others started responding on WhatsApp but the back and forth dialogue took too long. One "coloured flower" spa sent a message that I commend for brevity: "Hi (coloured flower) massage centre our location is deira dubai muraqabat road hyundai showroom near cross from the gas station (building-name) building scend floor 210".

The message was followed by a daytime image of the building. I stopped my car on the side of the road to read the message (about 150 metres before EPPCO) and realized that this building was literally across the road and less than 120 metres away! So I moved the car forward a bit, sent a message to the spa that I would be there in 5 minutes, and went off to explore a new path.

Entered the "coloured flower" spa a bit after 10 pm and there was a Chinese man with a mobile phone. He spoke no English and called, instead, a younger (and, in my opinion, quite doable) Chinese lady who recognized me as the person who had WeChatted with her. Prices were 130 for 1 hour and 210 for 90 minutes. Since I also felt that I needed a proper, extended back rub, I decided to opt for the 90-minute plan. There were, apparently, a few women in the room just behind the reception. Still in the mood of "potluck" I decided that I'd go with whoever was presented.

So I checked out an AMP with the name sounding like a dating website opposite Spinnys Karama.

Along comes this professionally dressed Chinese who says Hello, and presents me with a disposable shorts. Massage commences and she does it so professionally from the back. Sits on my butt and does it so well. Once done with the back she rips the sides of the disposable shorts down massages professionally occasionally touching all the right areas. All this time showing no signs of prospects.

I am asked to flip over and she asks 'will you like me to massage here? How much tip you give me? I ask how much you take? She says AED250 extra. I haggle it down to 150 with touching. Up to me. And she is game. She brings my trousers to get paid first and then gets on to business. Overall good service. J was polite and courteous.

Well with the intent of booking jacuzzi in advance with miss j. Reached a little late and the jacuzzi was taken but then later it struck me that jacuzzi cost 450 dhs and if you intent to go for the FS I presume it would cost another 300 which would raise the cost to 700 and that's pretty steep wen one looks at sandy shoes. So I feel if one has extra cash to waste or want to try something diff for steep price this place is ok. Still I would try once to compare the quality. Was a pretty long day yesterday with driving around town and meetings. My last meeting was done around 830 pm and once at my car found a flashy little business card of one of the massage places within the vicinity. Looking at the traffic to get back to my side decided to check this place out. BIG MISTAKE.
