How much does a drink cost at a bar in San Jose (a mixed drink)?

Going there in Feb and planning out my expenses for the week.

Thanks for the reply, at the moment I am considering both SJ or Buenos Aires at the moment BA is winning partly due to the fact that I have been able to get some visual indicators of the type of girls down there from reports, agency ads etc. At the moment I cannot get any visuals or reliable pics of what the girls look like in SJ especially at the DR. Go to You Tube and search either Blue Marlin Bar or Hotel Del Rey, you'll get a feel for what you're inclined to see. As noted, the girls in SJO are wise to their faces being plastered on the internet, so you're more likely to get an ass or tit shot than a facial shot, which I give them for their hard earned money, lol.

I am considering a trip to San Jose in March any help with the following would be great:

1) I am of egyptian parents but british born so I look middle eastern, is there any type of discrimination in Costa Rica by girls etc, or are there men of all cultures mongering looking for girls down there?

2) Lack of spanish; how much of an issue?

3) If I decided to stay at the del rey would I be able to get a good nites sleep there, considering the non stop action there? And are the girls at the del rey of the or part of the highest quality looking working girls in Costa Rica?

4) Is 300 dollars the norm for an overnite girl?

5) how safe is San Jose in general especially at night as I do look to go and explore and not be confined?

6) Are san Jose Costa Rican girls especially at Del Rey of the white latino type mainly as these are the ones I love the most; ie %white to black girls at Del Rey and surrounding clubs? If anyone can provide answers to the above I would be very grateful, as it is all essential in helping me decide to do San Jose or not.

Finally is March a good time to visit ie still plenty of action in March like the summer?

1. You are of Egyptian parents. So you should fit right in looking like spanish.
San jose is not like BKK or Pattaya. There is no discrimination here. Mainly because locals are of different skin color, hair color etc. you will find San jose the friendliest town.
2. If you know sex language it is good enough to negotiate and have a good time. However if you are looking for GFE types for LT or sightseeing partner little spanish is a must. Take a english-spanish translator.
3. Del ray is a good spot. I have never stayed there. Always stayed at presidente hotel which is nearby and the same price as del ray. I heard Del ray charges $10 every time you take a girl to the room and it is very noisy because bar and casino are open 24 hours. Presidente is free as long as the girl is dressed right.
4. By negotiation you can get a girl for $100 all night. depends on the time. Normally the girls quote $100 for ST. Can be negotiated down to $50-60 ST.
Beware that some girls are on a high horse and will reject your offer. There are many friendly GFE types there who may not be 10 on the scale but will provide good company and service. Spanish girls are horny all the time. I have never experienced a dead fish spanish girl in bed yet.
5. Del ray is ground Zero for all non-spanish speaking mongers especially at night. I would not recommend wandering the streets at night. Take a taxi if you want to go somewhere. This advice holds good even if you are in manhattan or London or anywhere. Do not become a target for locals.
If you picked a girl she will act as a guide.
6. I have gone there in March. It is pleasant.
Costa rica girls girls come in all spectrum of colors. There blue eyed blondes to dark african types. There are girls from Colombia, dominican republic, Nicaragua to name a few. All come to Costa rica because prostituition is legal.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the San Jose scene (been there a dozen times or so over the last 5 years), but BA is a VASTLY superior mongering destination and a vastly superior city in general. If you can afford the extra expense and time commitment involved in getting there, DO IT! I spent 3 weeks there in 2004 and will return about a year from now. You have a much better chance of hooking up with absolute stunners in BA. Argentina Private, the ISG Argentina board, is a separate entity of sorts, but your regular ISG login info will grant you access. It is a great source of information.

BTW, there are indeed some hotties in San Jose, but many of them do not allow photos. Do not judge the quality of potential women available by what you encounter in the ISG or any other photo gallery.

1. If you have the money, you should be fine. Be polite, considerate, and respectful and you should get the same back.

2. Don't worry, they speak english. Minimally to negotiate a deal, maximum to have a conversation over dinner.

3. Never stayed at the Del Rey for sleeping. Quality of the girls is probably the best in San Jose.

4. $300 is too much. I only do ST, about $60.00 for an hour. Look at this way - for $300 you could have five different girls in one night versus one girl all night. Or you could have a threesome for only $120.00.

5. Take a taxi at night. Be careful. During the day you should be okay. Ask your hotel where is a safe place to roam.

6. There are all types at the Del Rey. Tica's with fair skin, Nica's with darker skin, Dominicans that are real dark. Also alot of Colombians with all kinds of looks. Take that $300 and sample a little of everything. Variety is the spice of life.

John, Farmacia on Central Av and Calle 11 no scrip needed don't know where you are staying.

If you walked out the front door of Hotel Presidente take a right and you will see it on the corner of Av Central and Calle 11.

There is a farmicia across from the El Presidente Hotel....same block.....owned by a young Korean named Lee. Go see him, he will fix you up with almost anything you need. Even injections in the back room if desired.

No narcotics you understand....but most everything else is available there. He is a little more expensive than other places....but he speaks perfect English and caters to Gringos.

I was just in CR in August and had strep also. I was in Tamarindo and went to pharmacy and asked for Amoxicillin. They gave me Curam 1000 mg,which is a generic form of Amox. It did the trick and I was feeling better in no time. I did not have a prescrip,nor did they ask me for 1.

There are pharmacies on the pedestrian mall(centro below the del rey) with on site doctors that will write you a script. The cost is minimal.

I forgot which one I went to but if you walk around and ask you will find one of these.

hmm though im not in san jose, im familiar with that medicine, its an antibiotic, at least in panama it doesnt requires prescription, but Im not familiar with the pharmacies regulations in SJO, you might want to ask for a nonprescription antibiotics.
Best bet try to ask a local tico friend if you have one, they should know better
