It looks like they might be fighting Delta in their own hub. West coast prices to SJO are actually pretty low. PHX-SJO on American is $308, LAX-SJO is $328. Plus taxes of course.

West coast pricing has been a lot better since America West got into the market. If you're in a major market for America West, your prices have probably gone down $100-$200.

TACA has also had some low cost fares from Miami.

I am trying to decide between Panama City, Panama 1 week w/a week at the beaches of the Pacific Ocean (Panama) following that, or a week in Heredia Costa Rica with a week in Samara Beach (Pacific Ocean Costa Rica).

Which would be better for a late 20s, clean cut American with lower intermediate Spanish skills?

i'd say that they better add some more direct flights from canada then. lots of horny canucks are going to get "warm" going to san jose.

Any of you fellow Canadians catch the W-Five TV show report on Costa Rica sex tourisms? I've never been to Costa Rica but I read the reports here about the Del Ray hotel, Blue Marlin, Beatle Bar etc. I always wanted to know what those places are like. This show actually showed hidden camera footage of the inside of these places and I have to say it looked like a good time. I was surprised though when the reporter was cruising the internet and showed what I'm almost positive was the WSG forum as an example of how mongers post reports and photos regarding their sexual experiences. I don't think they showed the name of the sight but I recognized the layout. I didn't realize how popular this sight was.

Costa Rica used to have definite peak and non-peak seasons. Over the last few years more and more tourists have come, so there's not a real low season anymore.

Some times when it's very expensive or difficult. Christmas season. Easter. Summer.

I'd use a travel search engine (travelocity.com is good), and enter your city and SJO and click on the "Search all dates for best fare" box. For instance, right now from the west coast you can fly to SJO for $361 plus tax. America West started flying to San Jose in December, and it's brought prices down nicely.

From Miami, there's a charter company flying for under $200 plus tax, or the majors for $263 plus tax. From Memphis it's over $500. Often it's best to buy a cheap connecting ticket to the nearest gateway.

I'm sort of new to the boards here and am seriously considering a trip to Costa Rica for a few days of mongering as well as some fishing on the coast. First off I would like to thank all of you who have posted and provided some really great information about CR in general and it only makes me more eager to get down there ASAP.

I have a question that I hope the board can address. First off I am pretty open as to when I will travel and was wondering if there was any info about what time of year is the best to go, most importantly is there a time when the airfares are cheaper. As I said before I want to do some offshore fishing as well, so that may be a factor. I was thinking October might be a good time but I welcome any info you might have.

I moved back to Tennessee from California several years ago and one of the few things I miss about So Cal was how convienient Tijuana was...oh well I had some fun times there.

Anyway thanks for reading and I look forward to the responses.

Just wanted to get started in here by introducing myself. I'm a SWM, 35, and don't have too much of a problem getting laid up here in Dallas. I just need a vacation, but want one where there is hairpie readily available.

I have never been to C.R., but am a veteran of Colombia. In fact, I married a Barranquillera and brought her to the US on a K-1 Visa. I found that I prefer much more to rent them than I do buying them I am essentially fluent in Spanish, and know how to handle myself in a latin country while having a bit of healthy respect for my surroundings.

Just want to thank everyone for the great info and trip reports. It's always nice to have some good intel before you are wheels down in country.

I'd like to hear more about anyone's experiences with the semi-pro's, ie luck with picking them up at the malls, for instance. It may not be worth my while, given I would only spend 3-4 nights down there. My experience in Colombia was you could really find some knockouts that way.

My plan right now is to hit San Jose, stay there the first night, and then maybe off to Quepos or Jaco for 2 nights, and then return to San Jose for the final afternoon/night.

Also, anyone have any good recent intel on the pussy situation in Quepos or Jaco?

I would like to visit either central or south America in late March or April and would like to ask you guys which country would fit my list of needs. I have read a lot of good things on this form about Argentina, Costa Rica and Peru but the exchange rate for these countries dont seem to be nearly as good as Columbia or Chile. I would also like to know the best web sites to get the lowest airfares to central,south America from the western US.

Did anyone read the story about the American Airlines pilot who went on the p.a. system of the plane he was flying to 1) ask those who were Christians to raise their hands and 2) then ask those Christians to share their faith with their non-Christian seat mates?

I read the one article I found pretty closely. Turns out the pilot had just come back from a "Christian fishing trip to Costa Rica" and was just flushed with the brotherly love he encountered during the trip. Wonder if he caught a lot of pink snapper?
