I agree with everything you said. However, it seems like the poster was on a business trip or a lay over for a business trip because he asked for hotel bill to be separated. One with the room charge and the other with the chica fee on it. My guess is his company paid for the hotel and needed to submit the bill for reimbursement. That is usually the only reason people stay at the Sheraton.

This city in general is cool and a bustling city, at night a little dicey but I felt fine in a car or restaurant at night.

As I drove around at night the streets and sidewalks looked safe but I realize that could change in an instant.

During my week I met a El Salvadoran guy in the spa steam room at La Alameda Hotel. He spent his life working in the USA and retired in his hometown San Salvador. So we talked in English and he said everything is fine but he doesn't go out at night.

He said it in a very meaningful way. When I was w / my guide he would mention the police do not work the streets at night. That was backed up by the fact I never saw any police cars or police during the nights. At night many motorist would treat red lights like stop signs, just briefly stop.

And run the light. No left turn signs everywhere and all ignored.

Despite that stuff I always felt safe and rolled the way the locals rolled.

I wouldn't travel so far to pay for 5 star accommodations w / ridiculous $50 guest fees in a place like El Salvador. You'd do better in the states on price and quality so whatever floats your boat is my take on your TR.

In ES there are a lot of nice mom and pop hotels w / lush surroundings / pool for a 1/2 of what you paid at the Sheraton Presidente, much more charm and warmth. The Novo Apart Hotel is one of them and they speak English there, too bad you got burned on hotel and hooker.

It was a short trip, I didn't choose the hotel, but it was nice. Given the limited time and not wanting to venture out at night, my options were a bit limited.

The big 5 star hotels are sterile and have a 1st world feel. So sitting out in front of The Sheraton Presidente enjoying a shisha pipe was like being in the states, no different. The Sheraton is $1,311 + tax for 9 days, more than double the quaint Morrison Hotel cost. Everybody's different I know but I think you're really missing out on your visit to ES when you go 1st world accommodations when mongering. I wouldn't do it even if I could afford to. I like regular people too much, down to earth people in an undemanding casual environment, a real El Salvadoran environment. There is some good mongering there plus all the beauty of the country.

Checked in after dark and after a nice shower I was considering whether to go out or stay in and have a Room Service meal, not wanting to venture out at night, I contacted "Ariana" from a backpage classified, (first time meeting someone from this website) I was half expecting her not to pick-up, but she did, she arrived about 45 minutes later.

Now the Sheraton has a fee of $50 for a visit, when Ari (not her real name) arrived, I got a call from the front desk I went down and payed the fee cash. The girl at the front desk didn't even bat an eye but did ask for an ID that she kept until Ari left. More about Ari later.

Next day I had a nice breakfast from the buffet next to the pool, good service, made to order eggs and all the usual trimmings for Central America. Checked out at 11 am without a hitch, requested incidentals on a separate bill and got one no questions asked, the visit fee was listed as Miscellaneous.

A quick note for anyone headed this way. I haven't visited many casas but right now Kiss Fresh is the place I like the best. Out of about 20 + chicas there there are about 6 that are very nice. My guide Roberto, who took me on a day trip to Copan, gave me some extra stuff to see including Santa Tecla on the way back as well as this huge crater lake near volcanoes about 40 min outside of San Salvador at no extra charge. I can see that there are some awesome natural sights in the country.

And the two monger places I went to (Kiss Fresh and Zou Sports Bar) would technically make El Salvador a very inexpensive place to monger, I'm just not an incall type of guy as much.
