I'm glad to hear that someone finally found some action in Antigua. I learned a lot of my Spanish in the language schools of Antigua in 1985. They were, and still are, a very inexpensive and pleasant way to learn the language. 1 on 1, experienced teachers, very cheap, and a really pleasant town.

I took a couple weeks of refresher courses in 2001, and enjoyed the bar scene, the Plaza, and the mountains. All I lacked was the monger scene.

You liked the bar "N'hay que chicas" (pronounced "nye k chicas", meaning "only girls")

Do you really mean . . .

The Guatemaltecas ?? I met were hot. You're not talking the Indigenous Indians are you?

Walking distance from the Plaza or take a cab? Any atmosphere if the chicas don't appeal to someone?

Thanks for any more info. I've been looking for an excuse to study some more Spanish.

I can wholeheartedly endorse a place which I just happened to run across (actually it was the girl standing outside the joint who blew me a kiss which was the tipoff that goodies were available at that locale).

Anyhow, this place is located on the Calle Ancha, #92 (there's a red cloth flapping at the entrance to the cantina--if you get to the Texaco station you've gone about 150 feet too far). It's on the road you take to go to Jocotenango, the place which had been touted for a joint called "La Fuente". Forget "La Fuente" (girls grossly overweight and generally unattractive) and try this other place instead. It's called N'hay que chicas (pronounced "nye k chicas", meaning "only girls") and boasts 5-6 chicas in the 5-7 range, Guatemalan, who ask 50 quetzales ($6.50) for FS (though my pick offered no head). The girl I selected was from the Peten (way up north), very friendly and really liked to deep kiss and embrace. All the girls seemed to be just barely over the limit to be of age. The joint is a bar and you can hang around for a liter of beer if that's your pleasure. Some command of Spanish a must, I'd say.

This report is from last February when I spent an entire frustrating trip without getting laid. I did have a bit of a semi-relationship with a girl in Panajachel, but it stopped short of coitus.

Anyway, in Antigua, I went to the infamous La Fuente just up the road from Antigua in the town of (sorry, name slips me, but I'll try to look it up later). You can walk there in about 40 minutes or take a cab or bus. I wandered around forever before I asked a cab driver to take me there. The instructions I'd got had been lousy. He did so, but was not particularly pleasant about it. I wonder if he was one of the Evangelical types that have taken root in that part of Guatemala.

Well, there were about three girls working, all 3-4 in looks and one customer, a drunk, smelly guy sipping a beer. We chatted for awhile in Spanish before I got tired of waiting for something more attractive to show up and I left. Maybe I should have just gone for it--about two weeks later I would have jumped at the chance--but my previous trip had been to Thailand and I found the offerings rather disappointing in comparison. Perhaps you'll have better luck.
