Why Guate? The last time I was there was in January 2014 and now I am returning to Central American countries in order to see what has changed since pinche covid!

Logistics & Other Stuff:

Travel Insurance:

The SquareMouth web-site will give you over 50 quotes from over 50 different companies. I chose Trawick from National Mutual. It was for 7-days and cost $140.

Flight:

I flew United Airlines round trip from San Diego to Guate. Three hours to Houston and another three to Guatemala City. Returning, there was a VIP lounge called, "Casa del Ron. " It was a great lounge.

Hotel:

I stayed at the Westin Camino Hotel in Zona 10. The hotel was outstanding! My room, the service, and location were top-notched. Was the hotel chica friendly? Yes, I had one of the bar chicas meet me in the lobby on Saturday afternoon.

Customs / Immigration:

I was unaware of the Electronic Traveler Affidavit immigration form. But, I quickly learned about it when I tried to enter the country. They had these large blue signs with a huge barcode in the middle.

I was required to scan the barcode on my phone and suffer through answering all the fucking questions, and of course, I was wrong with a few answers. I was not the only one, there were several travelers suffering as well.

Returning, I and several others suffered through the same pinche process. When I completed the form and when I was departing, I asked the agent if the form could be completed before the travel date; I only heard crickets! If anyone has more information on this matter, please chime in.

Communication:

I have the T-Mobile Go5 GPlus55 plan; no worries whatsoever.

Money:

I use the Oanda web-site whenever I travel. The currency in Guatemala is Quetzal. When I looked at the exchange rate online, it was around 7. 70 to one US dollar. All I did was divide the amount of Quetzals by 8, and it seemed to work for me. I brought a lot of cash, but that turned out to be a bad move.

I cashed in $300 for Quetzals at the airport because I got in late. The rate at the airport was quite shitty. It was late, so I tried to exchange cash at the hotel. The rate was 7 to 1 and they would only exchange 100 US a day. I thought, "What in the hell can I accomplish with 100 bucks a night?

I asked the hotel clerk if there was an ATM nearby and she told me it was near the casino; how convenient for gamblers. My Charles Schwad card pulled through for me and saved the day! My ATM rate was 7. 25 to 1. I used ATMs the rest of the trip. All prices will be in Quetzals, unless you see the dollar sign.

Transportation:

My trip from the airport to my hotel cost $10 US. I took an Uber from Guate to Antigua and the cost was 230. My Uber back to the Guate airport from Antigua cost 250.

While riding to my hotel from the airport, I asked the taxi driver if he would be interested in an hourly rate. His name was Rodolfo and he quickly accepted my offer. We explored most of the filth in Guate for two long days and nights.

In Guate, I only took a few taxis with no meters and the prices were reasonable. Ubers were abundant and the prices were also reasonable. All the Ubers I took required me to provide a PIN; that was new for me.

Locals:

I found the locals were overall very friendly! The locals seemed pretty laid back, which I found in conflict with the high crime / murder rate in the city. But I was not there long enough to really judge the people and city. But the people I did have contact with, seemed quite warm and friendly.

Spanish:

During my stay, I heard very little English, which included in the hotel, restaurants, and Ubers / taxis. If you really want to have more fun when traveling in Latin America, you might need to step up your Spanish game.

Restaurants:

I did a lot of research before I left and here are my thoughts on the food scene:

Hacienda Real. Excellent.

Ricon Steak Very good.

La Tavola Excellent.

Casa Escobar Outstanding.

Overall, the food was pretty damn good. I was completely content with my restaurant choices. I saw many street food venders scattered throughout the Zonas.

La Linea:

First, this was quoted by WikiSexGuide, "La Linea is in Zona 1 of Guatemala City and runs along the railroad track north of 10 a Calle between 13/14 Avenida and 15 Avenida. It's considered as Guatemala City's Red-light district. For a landmark, it is just across the street at the east end of the Edeficio Central de la PNC (the national civil police central building) on 10 a Calle. Prices are very cheap: Q25-100. Best hours on brothels in this area are from 9 am to 5 pm. Be careful in this area, especially when it's dark. Remember that this area is not for beginners or mongers who are not use to the dirty places and nasty girls. ".

I must say, I've traveled a lot since 1977 and never, not ever, have I seen a place like La Linea. The place is in Zona 1 and it is about the most down and dirty place I've ever seen; I loved it! The place runs along railroad tracks, and there was quite a police presence. There are shabby rooms after more shabby rooms on both sides of the tracks. The rooms were large enough for a bed, night stand, and a bucket of water. Many of the rooms had girls laying on the beds waiting for their next customer. Most of the women were large, but there were a few that were thin, but butt ugly. One could dump his load for less than 7 bucks. Prices were 50 for 15 minutes, 100 for an hour, and so on.

It's quite simple; you just walk and instead of window shopping, you go door shopping. Some of the chicas stood in the doorways, but most were laying and showing their goodies. The rooms were horrendous, but I just had to play! Once I was in the rooms, I did touch a damn thing! I just unzipped, yanked it out, and she sucked her heart out for 15 minutes! The first chica was chunky, but had a great attitude. The second chica, believe it or not, was very pretty and had a great body. I still wonder why she worked in that shithole. Both chicas were from Nicaragua.

Strip / table dance clubs:

First off, I have never seen this many clubs in one city in Central America or South America! After my research, I had 22 clubs on my list. Some of those were closed, but I found a few more. In the end, I visited 16 clubs. Hence, the long trip report.

Once again, in each club, I asked several questions and did my best to write the answers on my trusty note pad. Thus, if I am wrong with any of my notes, feel free to chime in with the correct information. I wrote down the prices of the cheapest ficha and beer.

Final thoughts on Guatemala City:

It was a seeking putas and eating great food trip. I thought the city was half-assed safe and I only felt threaten in those two scamming clubs. Would I ever return to Guate? Fuck yeah! The large city kept me completely occupied during my three nights and I still only scratched the surface of all the smut that was available. Overall, I had a great time! Would I recommend it to other mongers? Absolutely!

This forum is slow but was definitely helpful. First place I tried was Moulin Rouge (Molino Rojo). A quick cab ride from the Westin. Cab charged me 60 gtq (too much. Uber is cheaper). First impression. It's dark, not a lot of girls and definitely not a lot of hot ones. Unless you like them on the heavier side. Then this is the place for you. I sat at the bar and the first girl to come sit next to me was a local. About 100 lbs, small tits, shoulder length dark hair. For me, this was the best option. I had a Corona (30 gtq). I think I've never spent more than 300 Q at Gem, and spas offering massage with discreet extras are similarly processed for 60-90 minutes.
