Zona 10 is perfectly fine to walk around at night but I would keep it close if you don't have decent Spanish. There are a few decent SWs in front of the Intercontinental and one in particular (she used a stupid Gringa name like Megan) I repeated with thrice. First two times $40 USD and then the third was practically free, it was late and rainy and I guess she figured some shower and warm room time with me was better than hanging around outside. I am no sucker but we had a good rapport and I treated her well, and still in decent shape, early 30's. To my point about the espanol, I was walking with her and a police truck stopped and two dicks jumped out and attempted to shake me down. They asked me for ID and I actually didn't have any (dumb) so they said I was going to the station. I laughed and told them I wasn't a tourist and we could pass by my hotel to get my passport but if we were going to station first I was calling the consulate. They looked surprised that I spoke Spanish. The game was to scare me into paying them something and then they would drive away. Megan was there and she said she was taking me to the store to get water, etc and I agreed and they let me walk after a bullshit pat-down. Without some Spanish it would have been easier to give them $20 and walk away. I went to a hotel near the Holiday Inn that was $38 USD and clean.

Madonna's during the week had 20 girls and four men. Sounds good, but if you don't have Spanish they hammer you. It is annoying. I told them one by one that I am local and not interested in what they are pushing and finally one worker latched onto me and it was fine. He found me a gem (Marcela) and we chatted away in the corner. My entrance beer (no entry fee on a Wed) was reasonable and then I had to buy M a drink for 85 Q (about $12). I think this place would be better if it were crowded if your Spanish is weak. Now, when I asked about upstairs they tried to sell me something over $100 USD and I laughed and again said that I wasn't a tourist. They smiled but surprisingly would not come down. She told me to come back during the day and I could take her out for 500 Q but I had to work. I got her number (which they she open and they were cool with) and called her the next day. We made a play to meet near Madonnas but we had no tele contact since my cell wasn't working so there was no way to contact me. Long story short she was a no show but I really think something happened. I waited 30 minutes extra but it was in Zona 11 and I don't fit in so I walked. Zona 11 is walkable from 10 but a little more desolate at night so I watched my step and didn't wear out my welcome.

There is a massage place in Zona 10 featured in the local paper I believe on Ave 7. I walked there and there were two girls available for FS. One was a hot Nicaraguan and she was sweet. The price was reasonable and I gave her a small but appreciated tip. There was a massage as well.

Figure out the streets and the numbering before you go lumbering about since it isn't completely clear, although it makes sense once you get it. Suerte.

Recently saw groups of SWs in Zona 1 at 9 a Calle and 7 a Avenida. They looked young (which Mayan girls often like 14 when they are actually in their 20's) but they looked pretty dirty. I'm sure a lot of guys would have feasted on them but I passed.

Everybody be careful with the man in charge of excesso. Has a claim to be an extortionist in court. And one girl has conection with gang "maras" I can't remember who I think was Arling I can remember. This theme everybody here in Guatemala are talking about. I recommend you just use your common sense at this places.

I don't think they hide their gang affiliation at all. In fact it seems rather obvious with the kid that pats you down when you walk in. I kind of like that about the atmosphere, feels like a real brothel. But yeah use common sense Definitely & be on your guard at any of these places.
