yesterday i visited comayagua solely for exploration purposes. i must admit a complete lack of planning prior to going. there is nothing current in the ff. so, armed with a change of clothes and a couple of bucks i drove overthere.
as your are on the highway from san pedro sula to tegucigalpa, the first entrance to comayagua will be at the first gas station. as u-turn please note the sports lounge on the right. this is important, because this lounge picks up speed as the night wears on, and when everything else begins to close, this place just becomes full of people. although i drove by it a couple of times, i did not go in, although i did notice talent kept going in and coming out.
the locals call this street the boulevard, and about three blocks in is the hotel emperador, which is supposedly the best one there. of course it was full! i actually stayed at hotel morales, which was just ok. in any case about two block further from hotel emperador on the left you will see a karaoke bar with taxis and girls on the outside. if you make a left on that street, the next building is cocodrilo night club. this place actually reminded me of some ensenada night clubs. with a stage and a bunch of seats in front. beers were 40lemps for guys and 80 lemps for the chicks. the chicks ran from a 3 to about a 7. obviously they looked better later on. take out was $75 although i did not test it. the vip is simple, your beer price goes to 80lemps and you must buy the chick a 100 lemps drink. this is a lower class joint, but no worse than fiesta in san pedro. i did feel quite safe there.
there is another strip joint in comayagua. it is on the main highway almost directly across from pizza hut, and it is called billys barra show. sadly the talent there was quite lacking, top girl there maybe a 5 or 6 after a night of drinking. worse, when i went in they did not have change for 100 lemp note, and they a 40 lemps cover charge? the people running it were not unpleasant.
what most impressed me of comayagua was that it seemed quite safe for either driving or walking. there is actually night life in comayagua, and it concentrates several discos and bars in the vicinity of the cathedral and park, all of which is well maintained, well lit, and well guarded by private parties and police. i haven't felt that ambiance in san pedro or teguz. i recommend it for amateur pussy hunting, whether local or tourist.
i posted here because i consider san pedro sula my city, and this might be of interest to our group.

In general, almost every city in latin America has a Gran Hotel, all located near exact centro, and built big and well, and all invariably a generation out-of-date, but well-maintained. Try the one in St. Cruz the. L. Sierrra next time you're in Bolivia. Very accomodating staff for in-house delivery.

Posts: 230Great suggestion is the Gran Hotel Sula. On the parque, directly in the center of town. Not exactly cheap, as a fairly luxurious hotel. San Pedro Sula is extremely hot this time of year.

Posts: 230I'm not really into San Pedro Sula; I live in La Ceiba. Strip joints in Ceiba were good at one time, but they all went downhill.

Posts: 37Club La Fiesta Road to Puerto Cortes
On Saturday I visited the Strip Club La Fiesta. This is located right across from Antorcha Supermarket on the exit to Cortes. The place has been remodeled, smoking is no longer allowed, and there were about 10 women on display between 5's and 7's. Pricing was $3 for beers and $6 for drinks for the chicas. The ambience has improved a lot since the last time I was there. They opened at 7:30PM and I think the go until about 4.
Have been reading about a Club at Villanueva, but have not been able to find it. Does Generous Gent or other posters have info on this club?

Posts: 230Some of the chicas in San Pedro Sula make piranha's look like goldfish. Far too much to spend; 2500 extra was a fantasy come true for this gal.

Visited a massage parlor two blocks up from Curazao, then left about half a block, across from El Parque building is a two story home. There were only two providers and I took a thin one call Kathy. She had me get naked and did a fair massage back and front, then she asked if I wanted the happy ending and we agreed. Up to this point it was 300 lemps for the massage and 200 Lemps for the hand job. Halfway through, I asked for FS, and she climbed aboard, but the price was very steep and 2500 lemps. Mechanical motion with condom, and without much enthusiasm. If I had to do over again, I would stick to the massage and HJ.

Posts: 230I am in Ceiba; Comparing Ceiba to San pedro is like comparing aquacates and sapotes. Totally different. Downtown Ceiba is tame compared to SPS. And surely rents / leasing would reflect the same difference. I would imagine $500 could find what you hope to find. $500 in Ceiba would get you a 4 bedroom 4 bath home in a very good neighborhood.
While traveling about in SPS you may have noticed several gated communities and in the less fortunate barrios all homes were secured with iron bars, gates, and cement walls. Imagine waking up to a machete. These people don't trust each other. And life is very cheap here. Just a 200 lempira cellphone costs your life.
Us gringos who live here do not wear flashy clothes, expensive jewelry, or parade high end vehicles. It's playing with your life. Far too many have been robbed (compliments of the puta he thought he was hustling) by boyfriends, etc, or from someone just in the business of separating you from whatever you have, may have, or what they think you have.
This pais is probably the 2nd most violent country in the western hemisphere. If you remember, I suggested looking at a La Prensa. The reason was since you were in SPS and the newspaper had a map of crime in the Sucesos section, you would see and understand what my point was. Overnight crime showing assaulto, assesinos, violars, etc, are shown in all the barrios and colonias. And comparing the murder rate with all of Florida won't work. This is a country of about 7 million people. San Pedro Sula had over 300 murders alone in June 2010. All other months of the year were 100-200+.
This is a great country to live. I have visited here for the last 34 years, and lived here since February 2005. It is a wise decision to know what you are up against from the beginning. And no matter how you look at it, you are a walking, talking ATM, and the sooner you realize this the better off you will be.
