In this country, as any other for that matter, you get what you pay for. Go really cheap, in a barrio you are completely unfamiliar with and it is at best, dangerous. Doesn't take more than a 4th grade education figuring this out. Maybe better suited in Green Acres rather than a parque centro penthouse?

Your right. Even at home you can find cheap rent, until you find out its on Martin Luther King Dr or something. Mabey my opinion was a bit skewed when I asked about a penthouse apartment closed to parke central SPS and was told it would be about $500 a month. What would be a more accurate rate for something like that?

can't speak for the Capitol, but San Pedro Sula seemed to be the place to be. Don't know if I would venture into the smaller towns without knowing someone there. I'm sure you could find more than enough "entertainment" in SPS.

Great report. With police, it is always who you know or how many pesos you are willing to swap for your freedom. I was popped in Ceiba yesterday and coming home drunk. I had about 260 liems driving home and the policia accepted it. Almost payday.

Those quoted rents sort of worry me though. You may have been safe with her family in their barrio, but those who travel solo may find thermselves in a real prediciment. Rents in a decent neighborhood are substanially higher; and really, putting yourself at high risk in San pedro Sula is about the same as playing Russian roulette.

The crime is absolutely horrible in this country, and San Pedro Sula is about the worst of all places. Gangs live in these low-rent housing, and sort of own the neighborhood. A gringo moving in is like those old arcade shooting-the-bear games. You immediately have a bulls eye somewhere on your body.

Please don't get me wrong. It's the safety concern for someone unfamilliar with the area. Travel into the wrong neighborhood could be the end of the road. These people think nothing of killing. Life is very cheap here, and they do get away with murder.

Yea, There are a lot of Latinas Here. I was married to one for 10 years (unfortunately) , and am currently dating one for the last year. I can't get enough of those dark mysterious eyes. Talk about beautiful women, ever been to Miami? Wow!

Let me clarify something I said before. Not everyone had a gun in Honduras. Only the group of guys I was with. My Girls house is in a small town and her family kinda runs it. We were in a pool hall and the owner tried to close about 10:00 when most of the town shut down. Her son called the sherriff and he said they could stay open. Another time in San Pedro Sula, we were stopped by police at a check point and they were going to take her brothers truck because of no registration. The cop said "call whoever you want, but it won't matter." So he called someone and handed the phone to the cop. Within a 1 minute, the cop was apologising and sent us on our way. I felt pretty safe.

As far as the rent, spot on. I found many 3/2 homes & apartments in the paper for $200. $300 a month in SPS. My girl's sister told me she rents her 2bedroom house for $50 a month in the small town.

Went and had a professional hour long massage in SPS for under $10 including tip. What a life!

BTW, I live in Houston aka latina paradise. We've got'them in large numbers! Mexicanas, Salvadorenas, Hondurenas, and Colombianas. I'm sure where you're at in FL would would also be considered a latina paradise.

Just got home from Honduras. Very nice weather & chicas. Have to be honest, mucho mas bonitas in Nicaragua. I was in parke central San Pedro Sula on Saturday. Nice city. I was suprised at the lack of bars around the center of town. I had a few beers at a corner resturaunt, across from city hall, but then had to walk about 8 blocks or so just to drink outside a very crowded pool hall. Never made it to Roatan, but no loss. I have some of the best beaches in the world where I live in Fl. Spent most of my time in the outer towns. San Manuel cortes, Lima, El Progresso and Villanuevo are the ones I can remember. Pretty tough crowds around there. I was with some pretty badass dudes so didn't have any problems. Came damn close a couple of times though. I think I was the only one without a gun on my hip. Like I said before, I was with my girlfriend and her family so it was a recon mission this trip. But from the looks I was getting, I think the chicas are ripe for the taking. I'm sure my "brother-in-laws" would have covered for me to par take in some of the action, but pretty sure I didn't want to take the chance and die in Honduras. I'm sure you know how jelous a latina can get! Over all, I will go back many more times. I believe I would rent in SPS if I make it a routine. Saw a lot of cheap rent there.

If you make a trip to Roatan, be sure to check with Sosa or Islena airlines as they did run a special which cost less than 70 dollars for a round trip. The ferry costs 550 liems each way, which is like 55 dollars a round trip so well worth the extra 10 bucks. The water has been extremely rough the last few days with all these fronts making it and hitting hard. Oh yeah. Plan well. No regional flights in the rain.

I was in Honduras in SPS and then a couple of other places in honduras. When I in Sta Barbara and it is very small but very very cool and lot of single woman. The Strange thing is, there is hardly anything about honduras when i was there it was just crazy and finding woman was easy. The pro action is a little hard but if you go and speak to nice looking girls in stores and pharmacys and even in the town center or Parks. But maybe people who live here want to keep it quiet. In Sta Barbara there was not more then 4 gringos there and it is very rare to see someone from The US. I did not speak very much spanish but now i speak really good and if you speak spanish the smaller areas are the place to be hot women every where just be friend ask and to to people.
