Cd. Jardin Q-19? I imagine this is a strip mall shopping center address or a modulo / locale.

More of an address needs to be given 'cause Cd. Jardin is a neighborhood, not a destination.

Actually many houses in the nicer areas in CD.Jardin have numbers on them, making them different than 99% of all other buildings in Managua. You have to call and get proper directions but the house will have Q19 on it once you find the street.

By way of example, casa Bellmary's has a house number. This won't be a strip mall or shopping center. Who knows maybe Bellmary's uses a different name in the yellow pages and it's the same place. If so it is a gringo rip off joint that charges by your skin color and how far away you live from Managua as I have advised before more than once.

Does anyone know if Sergio still is driving his taxi/tours of the casas in Managua?

I posted elsewhere that he is not doing this. He has a separate business and in fact both taxis are long since sold long ago.

It did not work that well as he was always too stubborn to learn English even though I bought him a great book to at least start and nobody , even mongers with 20 years in Latin America bother to learn Spanish.

Luis who speaks English and still is a taxista, still does this sort of thing from time to time. However he has griped in the past that there are too many mongers who think they should pay dick for all day squiring around, and translation, so don't think it's $20 a day for a serf if you do call him.

These do seem to be the crime de jour in these State Department type reports. I was in Port of Spain Trinidad three weeks ago and the same warnings were all over the place.

The thing is you talk to locals, ones there for their lives and nobody has heard of an actual victim and they are not in the newspaper.

I have not heard of, read about or seen on Canal 10 (Action Diez!) news, an express kidnapping report.

I don't travel with my ATM card since the one time I tried two different ATM's I got zero due to "card not honored" or "communication error" so I guess I am safe.

I think some of these warnings border on paranoia based on anecdotes and old wives tales.

You have to stay safe but if you have a car and use your head Managua is pretty low threat.

Just to dispell the controversy that is occurring on the Managua forum, the following is and excerpt the UK govt's report on Nicaraugua from their Foregin and Commonwealth Office:

Crime

Nicaragua has experienced a significant rise in thefts, break-ins and muggings since the beginning of this year. Street crime is prevalent in Managua and occasionally occurs in other large towns. Violent crime is on the increase. Pickpockets and thieves operate on public transport. Robberies are common in and around bus terminals, both for local and international routes. Do not resist a robbery attempt. Many criminals have weapons, and most injuries and deaths have resulted when victims have resisted. If you are robbed, you should inform the local police and obtain a signed and sealed copy of their report.

Taxi muggings, particularly against foreigners, are a new and worrying trend. You should also be aware that there have been reports of "express kidnappings" occurring in Nicaragua involving passengers using unauthorised taxis, where cash is demanded for release a short while later.

Where possible use radio-dispatched taxis. If you are getting a taxi on the street, be sure to choose an authorised taxi, which has red plates. Only use taxis that have the driver’s identification number, name and photograph clearly visible on the dashboard. You should take note of the colour and number of the vehicle. Although it is customary in Nicaragua to share taxis with strangers, you are advised to try and arrange a private journey with the driver. Always negotiate the fare with the driver before the journey.

There have been several reports of cars being stopped and passengers assaulted at traffic lights in Managua. While stopping at traffic lights in Managua it is recommended to keep the windows of your car closed. Car doors should also be locked from the inside when driving.

You should be aware that that there have been reports of violent attacks against foreign nationals in their hotels or places of residence. We recommend that you use hotels that are staffed at the front desk 24 hours a day, have adequate uniformed security staff and security measures such as a front gate, a fenced perimeter and a valuables safe in the room.

In addition there have been increased reports of credit card fraud. You are advised not to use credit cards unless necessary, and to request that your bank inform you of any excess activity on accounts.

You should not to travel on buses after dark.

You should take precautions when walking, particularly in the markets, bus stations and poorer areas of the town and especially in the vicinity of the old cathedral in Managua. Do not walk alone after dark.

Avoid wearing jewellery. Do not carry large amounts of cash, credit cards or other valuables.

Keep photocopies of valuables such as passports (including date of entry stamp), airline tickets, driving licence and travellers’ cheques separate from originals.

On Monday I came into a few extra dollars, some unexpected free time, and the desire to loose the cabin feever that had claimed my absense from the chongos (*****houses.) At about 1800 hours, after completing my Tona liter, I went to the casa de citas (wh*rehouse.)

Entering la primera casa de citas (the first wh*rehouse) I was greeted with jubilation, not for the money I would give the girls- 'cause I don't- but for my personality. Why he was not at home with the wife and children on a workday will foreever haunt him.

Note: Except for two (2) girls, none of the ten (10) other girls have ever earned the Big Black Schlong trophy. Nonetheless, they are more than eager to please, experiment, witness, taste, feel, and explore the Big Black Schlong.

I don't know where this is located. Cd. Jardin is the entrance into the Mercado Oriental and Calle Principal del Cd. Jardin. Either you enter the mercado or travel down the calle prinicpal. There are only these two options.

I have never been here that I know of, because I did go with Meat Loaf to some spots that I never knew the name of. I typed it in on Paginas Amarillas.com which is the Latin Yellow pages and got the phone number if that helps any. It is 505 244-3405.

The address listed is the same as you posted. With the address any taxi driver should be able to locate it for you and now maybe you or the taxi driver could even call to get better directions if needed,
