I assume HipaHipa is the best place to find a "Gringo Hunter" because it has the most expensive cover / most exclusive?

It's the opposite. More expensive cover does mean more exclusive, and the more exclusive clientele is generally young professionals who, while attractive, are not so interested in finding a Gringo. If there is a Gringo Hunter there, she will already be accompanied by her Gringo or rich Nica bf. A better bet is el Chaman or some of the bars around Bello Horizonte which are cheaper and have a bigger mix of clientele. The interesadas which you are looking for are more likely to be hanging out there or in the mall where the cover doesn't keep them out.

Also, where can I get tested in Nicaragua and how much should I expect to pay for a test?

A nice brothel / strip club would make bank in Granada. Seems to me you would have a hard time getting the "go" for that in family oriented Granada.

My Novia's sister just got robbed on a bus in MGA today. Always a wakeup for me as I get too relaxed in Country.

Took a 70 kilometer ride to the Pacific today from Granada. Water was warm, but ruff.

There is one thing that you may like. Outside of MGA they have hot springs baths, and a suana heated naturally. 40 Cord admission. I forget the name, but there are others also in Nicaragua. I went there twice to cure some congestion I picked up. First time the water was to hot for the bath, but as few days later after a rain the pool was OK.

The name of the city where the hot springs / sauna is Tipitapa. About 20 clicks from the International airport. I went again today to try and rid myself of my congestion. The sauna was so hot that you could only do about 5 minutes. The pool was to hot for me, but a few tried it for a while. Funny thing in the sauna. A lot of people were spreading honey, and salt on their bodies.

That being said that guy's mistake was that he lived there like a real resident and owned property. Dumbass thing to do. Never buy real estate in an 3rd world country and make sure you have a foreign income stream. You can't trust the low-life people and government in Latin America.

I guess I may as well spend a couple of days in Managua if I decide to go to Nicaragua as I'll have to get in to the airport there. Granada just seems very safe because of the high tourist ratio as well as SJDS and Leon. If you were staying for a month in Nicaragua what's the best place to settle in? Ocean is highest on the list, but also considering easy of finding a gringo hunter and monthly rental prices.

Managua has a lot to offer specially at night, lots of action, granada is more conservative no strip clubs but lots willing girls on the hunt for gringos and the all mighty greenback. Getting a girl for a whole month might be tough on your first trip but you might want to start checking out some dating sites to set up some contacts ahead of time.

Basically my game plan is to pick up a gold digging gringo hunter Nica, get both of us tested for STDs and then take her with me to a vacation rental for a month by the ocean / beach. Any thoughts on the best way to go about that. Is that a practical strategy?

Managua is fine and a lot of fun! You would be foolish not to enjoy a night or two at the mall, normal disco's, and any of the main strip clubs.

No power outrage in my area, am near the entrance near la colonia and Union supermarket. I forgot about the new 4g from claro, glad to hear it is working good in granada.

We had in Granada one that lasted about 3 hours yesterday.

I'm using the Claro USB modem. A 4G service. Works pretty good if I'm outside from the Casa a bit.

I'm staying more in the country part of Granada, and the bugs, rain, and poor intrastucture is starting to get to me.

you could always get a movistar or claro usb modem and pay per day use, i think with movistar the cost is 50 cordobas per day on the prepay service and it works all over nicaragua, speedwise its probrably around 1mbps at the best. now if you are going to be mostly in managua there is yota, a 4g service, both the usb and service are pretty economic. in granada you will find plently of cyber cafe specially in the center. i have a cyber cafe and we have 5mpbs and constanly get that speed. last power outage here in granada was about a week ago in the early morning and lasted about 2 hours.
