All SIM cards in VN have to be registered. If you register a card you have to show your passport and they know your identity and can monitor all your SMSes. When you message these girls, you are leaving evidence that can be used to make all kinds of problems for you.

You can get a sim card without registration all over Vietnam. You can also get roaming sims from Cambodia, sims registered to other people, spoof numbers, use Skype with a paid number, etc. , etc. , etc. There are countless work arounds. Besides that, no one cares if you have sex with prostitutes honestly. There are whole streets filled with prostitutes every day of the year right out in the open in the middle of Hanoi and HCMC. No one is monitoring your phone usage in Vietnam. No one is watching to see if you have sex with a local.

There's no privacy in Vietnam. It's not the kind of country you should go to if you're looking for privacy or free speech. You won't find that anywhere in this part of the world.

If you're that paranoid you shouldn't even be on this website. It has nudity and porn is illegal in Vietnam.

I know that you can buy unregistered SIM cards that are apparently registered in someone else's name, but I have read that after you start using them, within a few days, maybe a few weeks, the cards will be blocked and unusable until you go to an authorized dealer and register them.

The girls on the online sites are showing their phone numbers which can reveal their identities to the powers that be. How do they manage this risk? Do they use unregistered SIMs?

I asked at a bunch of travel agents in District 1 and they all said you don't have to register the SIM cards that they sell. They were selling tourist SIMs that all included lots of data and calling time. I don't know if they are lying and the cards would be blocked within a short time. My research suggests that even tourist SIMs have to be registered. I don't want any data, I just want a SIM to send SMS to these website girls and receive their replies.

What is the solution? Is it to buy a 50,000 VND SIM from one of the many small street sellers in Tan Binh or other districts (not in District 1 where they overcharge)?

And then use the SIM until it is blocked, and then buy another, and repeat as necessary? Have any of you had success or failure using unregistered SIMs?

I came back to Saigon after 5 years and from reading reports the situation has not changed much. Except, as I found out, for listing sites like kinu.net, and the various dating apps.

I've quickly discarded the first for many reasons, girls are pimped pro's, faces are masked, no in-call is available, they can be worn out from having multiple customers, time is limited to the minimum, basically when they show up in a room you've paid already you have chances of interview and no good exit strategy. Fortunately a FB account is not needed, just a picture, I used a recent one of myself. You could upgrade to Gold right away but even without it you have a very decent number of likes to use.

You will see that attractive Viet women either specify no interest in hookups, FWP, ONS, etc, or write little or nothing at all, these should be the ones taking money, even if pictures hints nothing. Unless you want to play a long and deceiving game (I don't) with the "good girls".
I remained quite vague in my description but I think you could write anything you want and it would not make any difference. Anyway this morning I had 3 matches and 25+ likes, I can't see from who, because I could not fund the Google Play account from overseas. I was just trying to say that I always write (in Vietnamese, without the symbols) "are you free?" (use google translate to get the Vietnamese translation and copy paste it into your SMS). As promised, I will tell about my first experience with kynu:

It started with the basic texts (in Vietnamese), if she has time today and she (or more probably the guy that redirects everything to the girl (s)) texted me the place. It was in district one, in a A25 Hotel.

Everything good so far. I told her I will come at that and that time and she said that I should send her the room number when I'm there.

I was kinda nervous because of the short time room reservation but I managed to do it. It was kinda expensive (200 k) and the young lady handed me the keys. After entering the room, texting the girl and waiting for 30 minutes, I realized that I was in the wrong hotel. She called me and I explained it to her. She said its okay and came to my hotel. Just sign up to kynu, then you'll see the girls phone numbers. Send them an SMS from a Vietnam SIM. there is no real need to sign up. Very few of the gals' ads require you to sign in before seeing the number. I almost never see an ad that needs me to sign in to view the phone number. Many times the ad has red text where the phone number normally is, but that's because the girl is taking a break or has stopped the ad.

2. What are the basic texts that you guys send to ask if / when she is free and where the short time hotel is? What is the normal progress of the dialogue?.

I normally ask in English. Most of the time, I'll get a Vietnamese reply or no reply at all. If the reply is Vietnamese, I use Google translate and reply in English until we've organised a time and place.

3. What is the expected time from sending the first message to actual meeting? Is this a same-day process? Within an hour? Probably depends on the girl, but I just want to know about the average.

I normally organise it 1-3 hours in advance.

4. Will the girls understand the texts if I don't use the ' symbols on the letters? For example "thoi gian ngan" instead of "th I gian ngn" because as far as I know, the little thingys might change the meaning of the word completely.

As I said above, ask in English. You might not get a reply at all, but that's normally because they don't want to see a foreigner. I ask in English so they don't feel tricked into seeing a foreigner.

I believe that's their availability dates.

Get either a Mobifone or Viettel SIM when you arrive at the airport. There's a bunch of vendors that sell them for a reasonable price. Make sure you get one with enough data for your needs, and SMS credits!
