So, it looks like plenty of folks here have solidly dispelled any assertion that you have to fly across the Pacific to get to Thailand. You can go across the Atlantic too and get there in about the same amount of time, and often for a better price. It's been awhile, so I don't remember the exact cost, but I got a great deal on Qatar Airways, which is one of the world's few 5-star carriers.

From the east coast you can also take Emirates with a plane change in Dubai and Qatar Airways with a plane change in Doha then onward to Bangkok (did this one myself).

No they don't. There are tons of routes to take to Thailand from the USA. England, France, Italy, Qatar, Dubai, India, Sweden, the list goes on. From the east coast of the USA it takes the same time to travel to Thailand across the Atlantic as it does across the Pacific.

Especially as there are no direct flights from US to Bangkok, so a transfer is necessary if going trans-Pacific.

No they don't. There are tons of routes to take to Thailand from the USA. England, France, Italy, Qatar, Dubai, India, Sweden, the list goes on. From the east coast of the USA it takes the same time to travel to Thailand across the Atlantic as it does across the Pacific.

I suggest just flying in to CRK Clarks in Philippines. It's the Angeles city airport. Stay on or within a stones throw of fields st for ease. Or stay at ABC if you want the best hotel in the area which is further away. For 3 days there's no need to go anywhere else. $1000 should be plenty for that amount of time including hotel and girls. IIRC you'll be paying something like $80 to bar find a girl for LT (girl and bar fee included) where she will stay overnight with you. Food and environment leaves something to be desired but the girls are all fairly accommodating and higher on GFE scale. Condoms are basically optional for all girls. General hospitality of the Filipino people is also impressive; I loved that about the culture.

I flew from BKK directly to CRK for $88 one way on Cebu Airlines. That's a good option. Going through customs was a breeze. Take the blue taxi from the airport. Avoid the white ones.

People seem to have the idea that Clark is the second coming of JFK in New York. I posted on the Angeles City thread a few days ago a list of operators who fly from the US to Clark. EVA Air (change in Taipei) Asiana and (I later discovered) Starlux (change in Seoul / Incheon).

Incidentally, the original post is a month old, and somebody replied a day or so ago. OP was also travelling next month, so has probably booked by now. I was also underwhelmed by the original response.

The outcome will be irrelevant as the girl costs, even if you take two per day will not change much the figure between one country and in the other, even if they are different one from the other. Flight, food, hotels will be more or less the same. So what will change if a country has girls charging 40 $ and another 60?

I'm going back to Thailand in 2 months. I would like to try another country on the way there. Which country would you recommend I fly to for a few days to visit on the way there? I was thinking Germany or the Phillipines. I don't want to spend a lot of money adding this trip, maybe $1000 to $1500 usd and just staying 2 or 3 days. I would like it to be some country where our hobby is easy and straight forward. Are my thoughts on money reasonable? Thank you for any advice. I will be flying from USA.

The Philippines offers inexpensive prices for companionship and is about a four to six hour flight from BKK to most airports in the Philippines (Cebu and Clark). Philippine food isn't as good as Thai food, but the Philippine Islands offer a different cultural experience worth experiencing. Flights from the Philippines to Thailand typically cost approximately $150 to $300 if booked in advance. With a budget of $1000 to $1500 for one or two days, you can do whatever you want in the Philippines.

Buying a unit in a building that is only half sold would be kind of worrying to me. I wonder if there are ways to find out how many units in a particular building are sold versus not sold. Somebody told me that for the most part Thai folks are only interested in the brand new buildings making older buildings a bit more of a risk I guess. I wonder if smaller well kept complexes are a better bet than the really huge complexes.

You misunderstood me.

A condo building may sell 100% of its units, but cannot sell more than 49% to foreigners.

So the 49% law has nothing to do with how many units have been sold, if you are wondering about how full the building is.

But, if you worry about occupancy, consider that a condo may be sold, but not occupied.

My personal opinion is that few Thais buy condos, I think that the condi owners create dummy Thai companies to take title of 50% of the units, which is why most condo buildings are half empty.
