Not that I think you are planning on going to Costa Rica but I like to go at least once per year. I checked for the beginning of July on both SW and AA and close to $1000 for cattle class. WTF is happening? Instead I may drive from AUS and park at the border in a safe lot then bus to MTY a few nights then fly to CDMX or Oaxaca etc from inside of MEX.

Use skyscanner.com to compare rates. It is $500 or so to Costa Rica if you go through Mexico City with Volaris or Avianca and about the same with Spirit going through Fort Lauderdale. Those are the fares from Houston.

Yes, it is horrible. My flight from San Antonio to CDMX, prices are up 60-100%, and they have eliminated flights. Totally sucks!! For now I am Sticky with MTY for now.
