I'm not sure about the discrepancy in pricing, but this is one of the "not too bad" spas I've visited in SL.

Been there for like 30-40 times for last few years.

Yes, we are talking about the same one. I have had average to bad experiences there for a half a dozen times and when the guy tried to randomly jack up my prices to 3,500 I stopped going in. The upstairs is not bad in comparison to other local spas but there is one room I was in when it first opened that I got eaten alive from mosquitos.

The FS spa that coffee man is referring to is even closer to Hemas. I forget the name but it's on the second level and the last time I was there the girls had all switched to dresses. I'm foreign but a resident and I have run into the practice of 2 x to 3 x as much for most spas; However, I usually have been able to get around this practice as I'm a resident. Here's a bit of advise for foreigners on how to get around it as some of those rates make going to a massage more expensive then Thailand and the service is always worst. Typically, when you go in and ask for the price they will pause where you can tell they are trying to come up with a rate. After they say their 2 x or 3 x as high rate simply smile and insist no, resident rate I pay the same taxes that they do. If you have a Sri Lanka drivers license show it as proof and then in most cases they will come down to a local rate or something that is maybe a 1,000 rupees more. Most times I don't have to show the drivers license as they can tell I know most MP's are 1 k to 1.5 k and they are trying to make business, not see it walk out the door.

There are only two places in 3 years of me living here where this has not worked. One is in Pelawatte by some super crappy spa named Neeroga, which I would never recommend to any person on this forum. The other is basically a house by an athletic field in pita Kotte, which is a shame because I liked that place and was getting almost FS before on a regular basis until they switched to a guy working there who refused. In both cases, I walked out and never returned.
