Hyatt Place Tijuana and Paseo Chapultepec

Hyatt Place Tijuana has surprisingly tasty steak fajitas. Wasn't expecting much from a hotel kitchen but the fajitas were absolutely worth it with everything on the plate being delicious.

Directly across the street from Hyatt Place Tijuana is Paseo Chapultepec, an open air mall. Paseo Chapultepec is home to two banks and various bars, stores and restaurants. This area is extremely secure with many guards. Tried Bodega 8 in Paseo Chapultepec and it was absolutely delicious. Looks like locals dress up to go here but there doesn't appear to be an enforced dress code. The beets were ridiculously delicious. I had no idea beets could be that tasty and got some strong morning wood the day after. Beets are good for boners. Besides the beets everything served was a hit.

Mexican breakfasts and American breakfasts don't seem to vary much, save for tortillas instead of bread. So, I assume you mean eggs, a pork product, and bread. Ticuan has a good breakfast menu, their Eggs Benedict are quite good. Ricardo's has decent breakfasts. Almost every mid-to-upper-range hotel has a decent breakfast. You can ask for something besides beans as a side dish if you simply cannot abide them. All will offer toast or tortillas. Most Mexican coffee is good, some better than others.

If you want a buffet, the Grand Hotel has a killer on on Sundays. Pueblo Amigo has one, too, or at least they did pre-Covid. Ticuan has one, but I think it sucks. I'm in the minority. I prefer Ticuan's regular breakfast menu and I eat it semi-regularly. They have very good omelets.

Warning: a breakfast sausage in Mexico is essentially a hot dog. Unless you like hot dogs for breakfast, don't order them. Stick with bacon or ham. A lot of places use turkey ham, and the menu will usually say so. So, if you have to be American, stick with bacon.

    Churasscaria do Brasil Hipodromo

Only this location has week night discount $15 dinner $2. 50 beers, weekend $19, same price as Mr Pampas.

Tuesday night took $7 you ber ride from la zona, got seated immediately. The place was about 70 PC occupied, a few parties celebrating, singing ballads.

Salad bar was excellent with fresh greens, cheeses, pasta ect. I took a couple round of the red and raw steak tartare, man, so tasty. Figured out they marinade in vinaigrette and sesame oil, masking the bloody odor of raw meat while keeping all the rich taste.

I got about 20 servings of meats and sea food, so stuffed and do worth it, but missing the large slab of tender prime rib in pampas, still an excellent feast.

2 young Korean sisters, young and hot, were dining at next table. They gulped down lots of good plus a pitcher or red hibiscus drink. I got talking to them at the end. They were born in mexico, polite, pleasant, giggling but did not give me their tels. Damn, must be blood related to this tough guy Jackie.

Great dinner cheap. Mr Pampas is still better and more popular. With its prime ribs.

    Jackie,

I got talking to local people waiting in line, a few very attractive girls and women, so it was not too boring. The women were not sitting on my lap, but they were interesting.

Don't see how anyone can compete pricewise with 260 Grados' $15 AYCE and $2 beers. I probably ate 3 pounds of meat. The place clearly target the low price mass market. They should raise the price to $20 to cut down waiting time and make more profit. KBBQ in OC and LA are $28-30 with $6 beers and $12 sojus. Should have tried the tripe and intestines, but what I tried in LA's KBBQ were just too gamy for my taste.

Perhaps you can start a new KBBQ, $12 AYCE with pretty K girls sitting on your lap feeding you food lovingly. I would go there every day. The you will capture the entire market in Tijuana. Let me train all your K waitresses for you.

After 2 hours my name was called, went inside waited 15 minutes to be seated. Sat at a table, waited another 15 minutes, nobody was taking order. The place was playing very loud Mexican Techno music. Lost of families with children were dining, moving to the music. I am talking about loud music near near HK loud level. Damn.

Another 15 minutes a guy came by to take order. The place was pretty hectic and chaotic. Dinner now costs 280 pesos or about $15, only a dozen appetizers with a dozen meats and shrimp entrees, beers $2, cocktails $6. I ordered 2 appetizers, some beef, pork, shrimp, salad. The Cajun shrimp was mushy, dehydrated, not fresh. Rib eye steak was good, brisket was sliced too thin and too salty, bulgogi and marinade pork bellies were way too sweet, inedible. The Korean side dishes, kimchi and salad never showed up. There was no dipping sauce.

Dinner with a beer and tip costed $18. With $15 for rt uber rides it costed about the same as the best BBQs in OC and LA which serve much larger and better selections of meats and fresh seafood, without the long wait. By the time I got back to La Zona, I had been gone 4 hours, damn. Mr Pampas and Churrascaria do Brasil cost $24 but have much larger selections of meats and seafood, plus a huge salad bar and you get seated quickly.

I would never go back to 260 Grados.
Damn. 2 hours in Tijuana without a chica sitting on my lap. I think I would have had serious withdrawal symptoms.

I generally avoid any restaurants without ample peer competition. Too few Korean BBQ in Tijuana to keep the quality honest.

    Mouzone,

You remember wrong. I went with 4 other bros one afternoon but did not want to wait, and just walked over to Mr. Pampas. Lucky we did not wait as it would drag out to 2 hours. This time I went at 7 Sunday night.

260 Grados is way worse than KBBQs in LA and OC in both service and menu. Tripe and intestine were on the menu, which I did not try. Unbelievable how Mexicans seemed to enjoy their meals with that loud music. You have to shout across the table for conversation.

As predicted, I smelled like grilled meats from head to toe after the meal.

What day and time of the week did you go? Wouldn't write the place off after one bad experience. From your previous posts it seems you'd been a few other times and loved it. My personal favorite food spot in Tijuana now and will continue to go.

    LucChicas.

For a few more bucks, Mr. Pampas and Churr do Brasil offer far more classy dining experience with much better selection of meat and seafood. We can go there.

Don't know what country you are in now. When you get back to Tijuana let's hang out and compare notes on our hot sexy trips.

I want to take a trip to a couple good mongering cities in Mexico, Monterrey, Cancun, Oaxxaca, Guadalajara, Matzalan. Can fly nonstop from Tijuana to all those cities cheap, total airfare less than $250. Would be nice to meet the bros who hang out in those cities. Any bro want to go, let me know.

Damn Capitan, sorry to hear about 260.

I was looking forward to one of these days eating there with you. When we meet up one of these days, luckily there are plenty of other places to eat at. Drink and swap tales with the "Candy homies". Later, luvchicas.

    260 Grados

I understand it's much cheaper, but anyone living in SoCal eating Korean BBQ in Tijuana is a head scratcher. Those who understand the quality of Korean cuisine from LA to San Diego know this.

Captain I went last week I agree their shrimp are old and muchy, they should just serve some frozen shrimp or just get rid of them. The quality has went downhill since the first time I went there.
