Discounts at Mr. Pampas and Churras do Brasil used to be $11-12 for week day dinner, but were eliminated after CoVid. Dinner now costs $18 with $2. 50 beer but is still very good deals compared to California.
Mr. Pampas has a better salad bar with more exotic items, cheese, pasta and soups, also serves up more cuts of meats and seafood than Chuuras. They would push a cart with a huge prime rib roast, the meat so fatty and tender, it literally falls off the bones. You can ask waiters to bring out the cuts and how you want them, nor always get them, but can try.
260 Grados Korean BBQ is now 280 pesos or $14 with the same $2.50 beers. Last time I went with a couple bros it costed $21 with 2 beers each.

Posts: 144Churrascaria is legit, really solid all you can eat steakhouse. Bill is like $10 USD I think, crazy.
I've only been to the one in hipodromo though. There's a walmart there. And a starbucks and ice cream / yogurt place. Also apparently a pancake place. Never been to the churrascaria in zona rio, although I would go there if I was in tijuana again.

This might be common knowledge in these part, but I'll post my food summaries just in case.
Taco stands: There are a handful of taco stands around the loop of the zona. Usually on the corners, but not always. There are a handful around the corner after Adelitas. I usually pay $5 (yes, they take USD) for 3 tacos. It's good as fuck, and fast. I'm sure I'm getting ripped off for $5, but I don't care. If I should be paying $4 or $3, let me know though LOL.
Restaraunte Azul: located behind Hong Kong. This is a sit down place, and this is where I recommend eating while you're taking a break. You'll find lots of mongers as well as chicas eating in here. It's more expensive than the street tacos. The posted exchange rate is 19 pesos per dollar if I recall correctly. I ate a ton of food for $12 ish with a large horchata. The main appeal of eating here over the street tacos is that it is kind of quiet in here and you won't be harrassed and solicited like when you're eating on the street. Plus you can check out some of the "off-duty" chicas in the light. When you enter, go up the stairs and ask for a menu.
Tldr; the food is great. If you're in a hurry, eat the street tacos. If you need time to re-charge, take a seat in Azul.

A minor sports celebrity I'm acquainted with recommended me La Espadana. He said it was his favorite restaurant in Tijuana. Solid, authentic Mexican restaurant that's rated well online. I liked it.
On my last trip I went to Sabor A Mi, which was recommended to be by a chica I've known for a long time at Adelitas. She recommended I go for the breakfast in particular, which I thought was good. I've noticed though that the orange juice in Tijuana tastes a bit weird though compared to the States (noticed this at a couple of different restaurants). Another popular restaurant.
An HK chica recommended me La Cayetana as one of the best steakhouses in Tijuana. The steak was fine but the place was overrated IMO. It's "fancy" and the food pricing was also on par with American steakhouse pricing, which I didn't like. So I personally thought it was overrated but it is a popular spot and worth checking out as you may feel different.
All of the above are either in Plaza Rio or very, very close by. One thing I like about the more upscale Mexican restaurants is the much more lax dress code compared to the States. I do see that pretty much all Mexican locals dress up to go to those kinds of restaurants but they'll still let you in if you're dressed casually. All they really care about is your money (which is how it should be IMO).

Been around Mx my whole life. They don't do chicken as in USA. They always start wi the whole bird. Best is on Al carbon and can be great. Just have to be prepared to rip down a 1/2 bird to get to make a meal. In USA birds are broken down by breast, thigh, wing, etc. That's why I never order chicken wings in Mx. Mx does not have they poultry processing as USA does so wings are a natural size to the bird and not Super Bowl sized. USA is so used to Dolly Parton breasts and Rosanna Barr sized thighs. Wings are naturally tiny as they don't serve the original purpose. El Pollo Loco will get you what you want though.
