    BKK Trip summary

I had a short trip to Bangkok last week of December. As this was my first and solo trip to Bangkok, had to look for proper inputs.

Thanks to ISG and special mention to at pulse0101, at MickeyDuck1208 who gave valuable inputs. Summary is as below.

I took some dollars & TBH from India along with some INR. At airport as you exit and junction where you move to MRT, there are exchange available at reasonable rates & found around 2 TBH / Dollars difference to one inside airport. Exchanges are within city and one near the Hyatt Regency (Asok BTS) had good value for dollars. Withdrawing from ATMs may be expensive as I understood from online (charges like DCC etc.) & I considered this as last option if required.

I took sim at the airport though my stay was for couple of days thought this was useful. If you need to use data for maps using Taxi will be helpful.

I stayed in a hotel near to Asok BTS. There are good hotels to stay which one can find from Agoda around Asok / Nana. This gives closer to region of interest.

The transport is really user friendly MRT and BTS makes easy to commute. There are Apps like GRAB which can be used for Taxi.

At local pharmacy one can buy Viagra without prescription and seen advice on not to rely on roadside medications.

Coming to experience was limited to MP and online connect.

I did not spend much at gogo bars, though visited, spent some on Lady drinks and tips. Most Bars ladies were not interested to welcome as was seen in their behaviour in contrast to farangs & I was not in mood to check any further. I would do some more bars if I happened to visit next time. Use of translator will be helpful when conversing else one has to struggle to get the message clearly.

Freelancers are available and few were postops. I had a chat with one Bangladeshi lady, who was ready for 1000 TBH with room but did not find her interesting that night. Saw one farang chatting to a Burqa lady, he was running his fingers around her pussy. There were many Afros but nothing of interest.

I will write separate report on my encounters.

Thanks again for the pointers. Hope another visit soon.

    Thanks.

    DP.

I agree, especially the racism comes those whites as think superior race in their minds and same slow poisoned into Thai people to get an upper hand.

Indian Don't spend desperately so, Thai people focus business to those desperate Whites hence this inequality.

Although, skin color dominates which comes next after money, especially south Indian who looks more dark, browner than North Indian.

I may be wrong about color observation, as it always plays my mind where am being ignored.

Largely agree with you. What's off-putting to most girls (and other tourists including me, I might add), is the herd behavior that is so common among Indian groups, the holding hands, the excessive bargaining, the not generous tipping. You rightly say that one needs to spend money to have a good time #thumbsup.

Unfortunately, too many Indians have behaved badly and so all are labeled as cheap charlies. Establish that you aren't one in the first minute and you will not have any problems.

    - Most street forex places take INR (I was in Asok / Nana area mostly), not an issue.

    - Indians are treated well in select places. Restaurants, local massage parlours, by street vendors.

    - but if you try to get into a Club you will see a difference, like asked to pay more or take premium option only (full bottle and table for 2000+ Baht versus a cover charge of 200+ Baht).

    - Lot of service providers including MR, sidelinethailand, fiwfans have some girls that refuse to meet Indians (this is largely true in Singapore also). Many Thermae girls do not make eye contact with Indians. Esp the younger and good looking ones.

    - Go to a high end massage parlour and some of the girls might suddenly "get a headache" after you choose them. Lame excuse to reject Indians.

    - Money talks. Throw money around and no one will notice you are Indian. Best place to see this happen is in Nana plaza.

But given the options it has, it is still the best place in Asia.
Bingo! Very well captured. My first visit to LOS was in '05 and I received the 'members only' story at many a club in Nana. But I don't let it bother me and move on with a smile. They've lost out on my money.

In my experience, you are sized up in the first minute or so and it's important to not be classified as 'the Indians' in that first minute. How you do that is up to each person, but in my experience, being respectful, funny, smelling good, dressing smart etc goes a long way.

    Cheers / Pulse.

Thank you in advance for your time and replies.
#1 Don't be a cheap charlie. Respect the fact that she is sacrificing a part of her in exchange for your money and treat her accordingly.

#2 Dress well, smell good! The number of reports you hear of smelly Indians tells you a lot!

#3 Don't fall in love! Her job is to milk as many drinks as she can from you before milking you.

#4 Read through 30-40 pages of the main forums of the places you are shortlisting and more importantly, understand that the perspective of a long time / resident monger will be different from that of a tourist monger. You are the latter, so will end up making more mistakes, paying more money. Accept that and have a lot of fun. That's what it is all about.

Have fun and do report back.

    Cheers / Pulse.

175 pounds or 175 kg? Nevertheless, the weight isn't the issue. Let's not beat around the Bush but skin color is a major issue for many Thai girls. However, there is a minority group of Thai girls who prefer Indian men. What you have going for you is you're traveling alone and not in one of those Indian Wolfpacks and you are willing to throw money around. Just don't be cheap and try offering them below the going rate.

I have known plenty of Indian guys who used to visit me in Thailand. Let me just say Thailand has not been their favorite destination for some years now. Unless you must go to Thailand I'd recommend you to go to greener pastures like Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Angeles City, etc. KL too if there's still anything there.

Reread your post. Not sure how big a hobby scene there is up north in Isan.

Just don't let anybody try to "snow" you and tell you that color is not an issue in Thailand. Because it absolutely is:
