I'm about ready to get a Nexus card but I'm a little worried about the interview to tell you the truth. I would like some opinions on how to go about this. What is it about going from the USA to Canada and back? I go to Brazil, Europe, and cross the border into Tijuana and nothing! Canada is always 20 questions.

Many times I am going on business but I have still been flagged and had to provide names and addresses of who I was going to see and where I was going to stay. You may get challenged both ways so be prepared with where you are staying and use the casino and shopping and clubbing excuse. Is there a hockey game? Tell them you are going to go see the Canadians. Is it legal to buy tickets off the street? I've always wanted to see a game in Montreal. Scalping a single ticket at game time is a good way to get a good seat and see a game cheaply. Look up some events that are happening. Is there a winter carnival? Give them a minimum of details, answer with the lest amount of verbiage possible, and stick to your story. They may hassle you but they will let you go.

One time I was in Connecticut at a conference and I got board and left early and drove 6 hours up to Montreal just for the night. On the way back the crossing guard asked what I did. I said went out to dinner and spent the night. He raised his voice and said in an accusatory tone "YOU DROVE ALL THE WAY FROM CONNECTICUT TO HAVE DINNER?" I said yes and he told me OK, pop the trunk and as I was doing it I said "and hit some clubs" and this seemed logical to him and he said "Ok you were going to clubs. oh OK." like this makes sense. He went through my golf bag very quickly and then sent me on my way.

Would the short turnaround raise a red flag? Too bad there isn't a major enough event going on in the city.

It is really not a problem. Tell them the obvious if asked. You had to work on Friday and you have to be back to work on Monday, and you want to see Montreal over the weekend when you are off of work. The reason for the advice on this thread is just to tell people to scrub their phones. They love to take a quick scroll though phones and you don't want an ongoing text chat with three escort bookings, and the local escort review board being the first hit if they type M into your internet browser.
