I recently met with a senior member in Mexico City and he knew how to to play his cards right around the city (SW / escorts / crime). One thing that really struck me was a burner phone, his phone was good had two chips slots (one for Mexico City and the other Guadalajara area code) This is convenient because there are agencies that are only accessible by locals with area codes. Anyways can anyone give some good recommendations, I frequent Mexico often and the shitty 0.5 GB LTE Verizon offers for international travel pisses me off since it runs out quick plus I need to be more cautious of my security. Any help would be great, thanks.

I'm very happy with Google Fi. I used to use multiple cell phones and got local sim cards wherever I went. It was a royal pain in the ass managing the cards and phone numbers. Google Fi is the best cell phone provider for people who visit multiple countries. The plan is very simple. The base fee is $20 per month for unlimited talk and texting in the USA Then data is $10 per gig anywhere in the world. Speeds are almost always 4 G LTE. Use just 250 Meg, it is only $2. 50. I usually use between one and two megs so my bill is between $30 and $40 a month. They currently only support a number of Android phones (I love my Pixel), but are rolling out more. If you are a hard core Apple fanboy, perhaps not for you. I don't think Google is ever going to support the iPhone. But they do give you a 2nd data only sim card that can go in your old cell phone (useful going into sketchy neighborhoods) or mobile enabled tablet (including compatible iPads). I love having data as soon as my wheels are down and usually am messaging girls before I get through customs. The Pixel (and I suspect other phones) support tethering so you also have a mobile hotspot with you to connect your laptop. If you are interested, PM me, I can send you a link for $20 after your first months service. If you have any questions, you can ask me as well.

Posts: 1600Worldwide Cellphone Technology Optimized for Mongering
I was surprised that I could not find any topic on this venue devoted to the discussion of global cell phone technology, and it's use in this hobby.
In any case, I came here to post that right now, thru Dec. 31st in the USA There are great deals on the Motorola G4 Unlocked Universal Smartphone at COSTCO ($174.99) and Best Buy ($179.99). This is about the very best deal anyone who is looking for a world-compatible travel oriented hobby phone is going to find. If someone is looking for a good performing new, unlocked smart phone that will work with a local SIM card on GSM networks just about anywhere, as well as with CDMA networks in the USA, with 4 G LTE internet speed, you would be hard pressed to find a better phone than this.
