Another reason why MDE is toast. The new tulum.
1. $200 isn't the average salary in Colombia, it's closer to $1 k / month.
2. $200 for all night and GFE with an 8+/10 Colombian hottie is a bargain, I'm also from a third world country and that's what the escorts charge for long time and the girls aren't anywhere near as hot as Colombians.
3. Hot Americans girls are like $1 k+/ HR, $5-10 k for the entire night is the going rate, atleast when you look at Tryst and Eros and other high end sites.
4. The same girls who charge $800 k cop for all night charge like $130-200 k cop for 1 HR, $800 k cop for 8+ hours is a bargain and I don't understand how you can think this is too expensive.

You don't pay a Colombian girl $1100 to spend the night. You pay her $100 USD on average, maybe a bit more depending on how hot she is. Thats 1/10 of the average salary.
You can dig even deeper and say well there is no Colombian person from the neighborhood she is from and with the education that she has making the AVERAGE. Pretty sure they are almost all making the minimum. But if she can get it, then why not.

Who says the person is broke or cheap because they do not pay more. How is there always a comparison, but where I am from? If you went to London and paid 2 times as much as it does back home in Alabama, would you holler but back home?
Avianca has always had 1 price for the rich foreigners but a different price for the broke ass cheap charlie local people. If you go onto the Colombian version of the website you can get the cheaper price without even being Colombian. Knowing this, why would you even brag that you purposely went on the foreign Avianca site to pay the higher price, because back home an airplane ride would cost more and you do not want to appear cheap or broke?

In the US, the minimum salary varies in each state, from about 7. 25 USD / HR to 15-16 USD / HR (in very few states, like DC or California). $7. 25 at 40 hrs a week is "whopping" 1160 USD / month.

1/10 of $3500 is $350. Can you get a hot girl to spend the night with you in the States for $350? I doubt it. But even if you can, the ratios are pretty much the same.

It's probably better to smoke a cigar or have a batida.

It can happen if you are really unlucky. It's pretty much a game of Russian roulette. It all depends on how many flights arrive near the time of your arrival. Normal unpredicatable arrival delays make it hard to schedule around busy times. I don't remember every spending an hour on the immigration line. I've heard of passengers with document problems being detained for long periods but that's another issue.

There's a sign posted nearby where the white taxis are located that lists the pricing for the white cabs from the airport.
The fare is 98 K to Poblado, and higher rates for further outlying cities like Envigado. I don't know where you where going but it sounds as though the cab driver added the 20,600 K tunnel fare "peaje" to your fare assuming you would assume that it was an additional.
Whenever I either go to and from the airport from Poblado, I just say 100 K and off we go. However, very late at night the white cab drivers will ask for more leaving the airport contrary to the posted rates.
Over the past five years I have flown over 20 times from Rio Negro having to clear immigration in Medellin and it has never taken over an hour to clear immigration, but regardless of this I always arrive three hours early as you never know.
This is what my experience has been.

These are the ones that are telling me the fee is 120,000 COP to a man. All of them. Are you telling me that arrival time has nothing to do with the change?
Information is power, my recommendation is to make it known to the drivers that you know the rate. If they insist then just use uber / didi / inddriver. You can also take the bus and avoid discussions altogether. All these services operate 24/7. I sometimes grab a ride share if there is a long line for the bus (usually late at night). It's pretty common worldwide that taxistas try to take advantage of people who aren't familiar with the rates or the trip routes. The yellow taxis at Bogota's El Dorado airport are notorious for it. I tell Colombians who complain to me about it to benchmark the fare on ride share or taxi (cabify, Coopebombas) apps, then plug your destination into a GPS app set to Spanish and pump up the volume. The app will immediately announce when the driver tries to deviagte from the route. They don't normally try anything once they realize you are aware enough to turn on GPS.

The ATM conversion rate offers are unnecessarily confusing and it's intentional. It is showing up in more and more countries around Latin America. Besides Colombia, I've personally seen it in Dominican Republic and Brazil.
The bus and taxi rates have nothing to do with time of day. The uber / didi / indriver rates will of course vary according to demand and time of day. As I wrote previously, the ride share app rates are rarely as high as the taxi rate.

I don't understand how it's a scam. The banks give you a choice of accepting or declining their conversion rate. Every ATM I've been to in Medellin that charges a fee gives you that information before your transaction is completed. The user has the option to cancel the transaction. I traveled to the Far East before the pandemic and many ATM's there were offering their own conversion rate.
The official rate is the same 24 hours a day. You should show those drivers who are asking for 120 mil the sign outside the departure doors. The next time I arrive at MDE, I'll try to remember to take a photo of the sign and post it here.

What happened to me one night earlier this year I arrived very late, like after 1 AM and there was one white taxi out on the curb and the driver asked me where I was going and when I said Poblado, he said 120,000 Pesos. Since I was already a zombie after flying from California and my other options where limited, I decided to just pay the fucker the extra 22,000 Pesos.
As you mentioned there is a pricing list for the white cabs posted with the fares to various locations in and around Medellin. The fare to Poblado is posted at 98 K and as you mention should be in effect no matter what time of day, but unfortunately is not always abided by.
I think in some instances what the cab drivers are doing are adding the 20,600 Peso toll fare to the published fare hence asking for 120,000 Pesos which may be what some others have expereinced. So for others travelling during the day and early evening, when there are a bunch of cabs out they should just confirm that the 98 K or 100 K fare includes the tunnel toll which does.
And if a cab driver try's to pull that stunt on them I would report them, but probably a waste of time.

I understand that rationale but you can also look at it this way. Depending on where you live, you probably spent an average of 600 to $700 to get here, for a week you paid probably $500 for your hotel. You're here to have a good time. You meet the hottest girl that you've ever seen and would ever been with and she tells you that she'll do everything that you want all night for $191 US which wouldn't even get you one hour with an escort in America. Now you will turn her down because of the theory that well that's the average monthly Colombian salary as if that matters to you. So you go home on that plane following this advice not having that experience with the hottest girl you've ever seen who do everything you want all night because of the principle that well it's a lot of money in Colombia although it's actually not a lot of money to me. You should be commended for your principles while another guy is having the time of his life and you can call him a simp.
