First and most important tip is to go over to the Seeking Arrangements forum. It's quite active so it should be in the front page. If not you can check my posts because I post there often. I posted a guide a few months back and can report here if folks want.

So far the other advice here has been right. For example never ever ever pay for a date that doesn't have sex. Not an expert here but will try to answer. The first thing to remember is that SA is a lot of work and it's completely relative for everyone. Some won't find what they are looking for and trash SA. Others put in good work and it will be rewarding. I've not posted my experiences (yet) because I'm not a good writer. In my dreams, I met four in Dubai a couple months ago. Two were dinners without payment. One seemed greedy so ditched and the other one we promised to meet next time due to scheduling conflicts. Third was an Italian freelancer, met for dinner and back to the place for fun. Very good and I'll meet again when I visit. Finally a Russian student visiting Dubai for a week (verified, not a WG or scam). Met for lunch, then fun, Dubai mall, fun, dinner and then an all night. No money exchanged! I did end up buying a small gift the next day because I wanted to. Not direct answers but you can see the variation here.

Personally I'd not meet someone for just dinner and pay unless there's a prior connection and some implied time for fun after. Some may. You should definitely not mention money or anything like that on SA website. Take it to WhatsApp and even then genuine ones would expect to be approached delicately. Yes, there are a lot of WGs in Dubai on SA. If you like them and the price then no harm in meeting. As for PPM vs allowance, it all depends.
