As keen students of financial theory, wanted to introduce the Nobel prize winning algorithm which would be relevant to our search. Over 50 years ago, two economists Gale and Shapely studied a hypothetical problem facing 3 men and women on a deserted island who wanted to get enter into SD / SB arrangements but these arrangements needed to be stable. These was running into problems with SD leaving his SB, SB flaking out etc. So the combined efforts of these two economists came up with the solution which won Shapely the Noble prize for it.
The solution is elegant, it does not get everyone their first preference but the best preference you can get. Each man and woman rank their potentials mates, the highest match gets it, provided the counter party has the same rating. Ie if Man 1 rated Woman 1 as his first preference and she did the same, then they will match. Else it will check for Man's second preference etc.
Into our SA world, this would applied by actively gathering favourite markers on your profile. Those would be your easiest hits, followed by those profiles where you need a number of point matching. This methodology seriously works and has been widely used. Most of the dating sites follow some form of this method.
This concludes the theory lesson from today. LOL.

Read it as: I want long-term but I am not able to find it so, this is a compromise. This is a very good profile to pursue. It shows a lot of really great qualities and has the potential to develop quite well.
Profile: Avoiding the Corona Virus lockdown in UK / Europe.
Read it as: In Dubai there is Ladies night and parties to attend. I ran out of money after 15 days and now need to meet the rent. This will be a quick, mechanical encounter and will preceded by judgement on how much impressive her party / cool hangout place credentials are. Be prepared to have extensive discussions on the new DIFC / Blue Bay restaurants and the beach clubs. Expect heavy drinking and ordering of pretentious foods. I would avoid this all together.
Profile: Planing to come to Dubai next month.
Read it as: I want you to buy my ticket and arrange for stay.
Profile: Interested in Fashion.
Read it as: Bought from a designer store once and regularly browse them.
Profile: Study psychology / want to be a psychologist.
Read it as: Read some random book about it with some cookie-cutter theories and have self declared that I understand the human mind. All my friends come to me for advice.

Read it as: Dubai has a very small no of medical students. No medical student will ever have the time to get onto SA at least until their early 30's. This is effectively a rubbish statement.

That's all what I have got for now, will think of more stuff surely. These in addition to the usual filters of plantonic / online / GPS / one photo / no face photo / making it hard to move to whatsapp / photos.
It would be great is you can put your take on this also.

Egyptian. Rude and a complete nut job.
Exotic Mix. Disorganised, changed the meeting twice, location once to the other end of town, good on WA terribly self absorbed in real. Spend all the time on her phone with important instagram matters.
I am going to actually stop on the app and instead focus of my rather extensive list of contact previously generated; for those I had kept for a later time.

She looked amazing to the eye but wiser sense prevailed and I have decided not to pursue any further. Sure enough, I have received an earful about how I wasted her precious time, I am scammer. Trying to explain that I had clearly said that this was a meet and greet for us to decide whether to pursue was met with a thankful closure of the conversation.

Posts: 218Interesting. I share a similar philosophy and hobby. Stick to the strategy and don't deviate, irrespective of the potential returns as without research you rarely get what you are looking for. I'm a fan of fundamental rather than technical analysis. I view untested SBs as risky as cryptos. You may get a fantastic return, but you may lose your investment and end up frustrated. Not sure of the investing equivalent of a last minute change of plan as something didn't feel right, but I have a couple of times resorted to making a late night deposit in a reliable Russian asset. On a good night, two deposits in 90 minutes.

Posts: 1181Over the past many years, I have refined an investment philosophy. This has been a product of a lifetime of mistakes and stuff that didn't work. I always play within that and occasionally refine it. Similarly, I have made a tonne of mistakes on SA but stuff which I have now works.
Also like here, I freely share what I do on a few financial boards.
Come to think of it, my username there means the same as the one here. LOL.
Also like here, I operate in a very specific subsection of an otherwise large market.

Posts: 1181The more I think about it, this is not dissimilar from investing.
The guys who succeed are the ones that make some rules for themsleves and then play within those. Like in investing, there are large no of people who just do it randomly and don't grt anywhere with it.
Different folks will have different rules, but there are some basic ones that apply across.
Ha ha ha. This is getting fun and very close to my profession.
