Besides the budgetary impact and the more frequent appearance of performance issues (I guess due to frequency), I believe I need to balance things out a bit more. Pondering whether to cold turkey the hobby or keep it limited to high-value experiences (I. E. Rare treats).

This is quite the spree you're on, isn't it? An encounter every 1. 91 days for an entire year. That's quite a feat. I imagine it must have some impact on the exchequer. As the adage goes, everything in excess is bad. While I'm not here to suggest limits, if you're starting to wonder whether you've crossed one, then perhaps it's time to reassess.

So my advice to you is to find something else to occupy your time, and everything else will fall into place slowly. Pursuing a hobby is a great way to destress your mind and keep some excitement in your life. Don't take my comments as a denunciation of your activities.
