Centro for me, besides when I'm looking for sex, is like the heart of the city, bustling with people going on about their daily lives. Whether I'm just sitting down at Parque San Antonio drinking a coffee watching people walk by, whether I need to go to a ferreteria to pick up a shower head or a saw to cut wood for shelving in my apartment, it can all be done in Centro. El Centro is the heart of Medellin. It's the original city center. Poblado is just the newest suburb. The least one could do is go to Laureles, the original suburb.

Until you physically go there enough times to get over your fear, you'll never know what's happening there.

I didn't climb El Penol. My experience there was good until the storm rolled in while we were in the middle of the lake. Hail is no fun, especially when you're doing 25 knots across a lake and there's nothing to block it. After we got back to shore nobody felt like climbing a metal staircase in a thunderstorm.

I've some friends who did glamping around Guatape, although I don't know which place they used. Try CerroTusaSprings, you can find them on Instagram. It's not at Guatape, but a nice area. You'll probably want to rent a car for the trip, or at least a moto.
