It's equally ludicrous when someone states that a mere increase in numbers (demand) will drive up prices. Someone who thinks that not only never took any economics classes, but has never been to Bara Ejectiva in Medellin. Demand there is glorious but prices remain constant as the Colombianos can't afford to pay more. You could stuff twice as many more in there and the price would still remain the same.

What's relevant is the "type" of consumers or volume of those willing and able to pay higher prices. Throw a bunch of suckers with $ in the mix and prices will rise. Service levels will also decline as the same will put up with it.

There are some genuinely good people all over the world. There are also terrible people who just take and take. Osteo was probably lucky that he met some good eggs, but he also set himself up for that outcome by being a good egg himself.

More than once I have gotten very sick in MDE, the worst episode was pre-Covid, my first trip when I assumed I was getting exposed to some new, foreign (literally) virus that knocked me on my ass like nothing I ever experienced before in my life.

The way the chicas lined up to care for me, feed me, bathe me, change my linens, bring me medicine, all without being asked or paid was one of the first times I knew I found a very special place. And they kept wanting to take me to the hospital, but I somehow managed to avoid it.

If you mean more sheer numbers of people showed up and supply could not keep up with demand, then yes, that will drive up prices every time in a free market.

If by "behaviors" you or someone is referring to the prices being paid by the consumers, that does not set price and has no effect independent of supply and demand on what other people pay.

Given the size of Costa Rica and it's remarkable economic expansion already mentioned by a third person on this string, sounds like it was the former. Also, given the differences in scale between Costa Rica and Colombia, I have seen it written here many times that there is very little to be gleaned from a direct comparisons between the two countries.

This is what I advocate for too. Treat people like human beings, like you would expect to be treated, and you can expect the same in return. This is why I get exasperated by some folks here that constantly go on about prostitution being an immoral thing, that these chicas are low life, by finding 'higher quality', all this priveleged and "superior' garbage, that does nothing but show their own prejudices. They are human beings trying to make their way thru life, often from a very disadvantaged starting point. They usually want a little respect, like most people do.

I have never been to Costa Rica so can't speak for or against prices getting bid up due to this. But I would imagine their economy going from 5 billion GDP to 64 billion over the last 30 years plays a role. All those Jurrasic Park tourists! Things get more expensive and prices go up.

And will you please go away? You need to stay home, stay away, get a personality transplant, then return, try again and start over. I am not sure what your realistic timeframe might be on this but based on how you progressed from bad to worse, I'm going to say on the long side of the time interval. Perhaps sometime in the 2030's, after you've had some more time to ripen or "mature".

Bill Gates isn't going to Medellin to chase hookers, nor is any other billionaire. Even if he did there's still no point in him paying many times the going rate. That's the point and why your analogy failed.
