I remember guys in Indonesia talking about the Tanamur Disco in Jakarta. Looks like the old little street of bars in South Jakarta is now also dead. the Stadium is gone. Red Square is gone. I have heard of no place coming anywhere close to the vibe and the opportunity in those locales of old. Cuba of mid to late 90's was mind blowing and that will never ever return either.

I suppose it's a mix of good and bad. I agree social media brings increased opportunities in many ways. But a big part of me also greatly misses the good old days in such places, which will never return.

Could not agree more. The decline has been fast and steep. Last 5 years has seen venues disappear and attitudes change. Bars find it hard to find staff except skanks and pigs of low horizons. And the places where FLs used to hang out to find a long term payer no longer exist. I had really lovely women stay with me in a hotel room for days and weeks with trips down to samui and Phuket as a couple and I paid them off at the airport when I left. This used to be common among tourists and pals of mine so you got to know the women well during their stays with you. Agree with everything that you have said and will add, the number punters (namely Asian punters on holiday) has increased and the supply of gals has decreased. A good looking gal can call the shots and does not have to perform. The new mongers I see are not like the hardened demanding Western dudes that used to rule the scene. They are very naive guys who will pay what is asked without bargaining (just have a wander into some of the GoGos where they flash a sign in front of the dudes showing the price ST / LT fee + BF) and demand very little. They don't expect GFE or PSE from the provider. Some have very little experience with any nightlife of any kind as is seen in their behavior in clubs. Just head to some of the discos in Bangkok and on Walking Street for prime examples. In the 80's, 90's, and early 00's, customers were almost exclusively Western with a few Japanese thrown in and for the most part the Japanese scene was separate (Soi Thaniya and a few select GoGos). Gals were more open, less "dick scared," and wanted to party and have fun because that is what the Western dudes wanted. A gal who is a bit wild and not in the least demure. With the decline in numbers of the Western punter and the rise in numbers of the Asian punter the culture of these haunts has changed as has the gals.

It was a very different time in almost every way. The only thing similar to today was you paid the gals. Made me very nostalgic. The scene is simply a shadow of its former self. If you think spending hours on the internet is more fun and exciting then having countless clubs and other venues that were hopping till all hours and packed with gals, almost all of whom were on the game, then well, I just don't know what to tell you. BKK was vibrant at night, it came alive after dark; daytime was just something you had to get through before you got out there amongst it at night. From the soapies, GoGos, to the beer bars, yes, BKK had lots of beer bars in the late 90's early 00's, to the discos, to Thermae, to the street, you were just surrounded and engulfed by the "scene. " It was ever present and always a factor and around you. It was almost as if Sukhumvit Road was simply a setting for the "scene. " Do yourself a favor and get to Smalls in the next week or so to see the photo exhibit.
