Beavis has been living in Phils since before the pandemic. He has provided a number of good BOTG reports during the pandemic. Suggest you RTTF thru the AC thread regarding his posts.

In Colombia Spain Germany turkey and few other countries I have been in the past 2 years, there have been mask mandates everywhere, yet well over 80 percent of people don't bother, there just isn't enough police force to ensure everyone to comply.

Did you think there is a problem enforcing masks, curfews, social distancing, or other mandates here? Suggest you RTTF. Mask-wearing is pretty much universal here. I would guess that its possible to go outside without a mask for a walk and not be seen by the authorities. But what's the fun of that if you can't go into any business without a mask, a temp check, and filling out a contact tracing form? Social distancing is required inside every business. Restaurant's seats and tables are modified for social-distancing. You want to find the places that don't do those things? Walk along Burgos and look at the number of restos that have had their doors closed by the government for staying open too late, or having too many customers inside, or defying the alcohol ban when it was in place.

Not sure about the masked dancers, as the bulk of gogo bars have been closed. Those re-opened have changed themselves into restaurants. The barfine system has been upended, and I understand it still exists somewhat in AC / Subic.

People here have missed out on a lot since Covid hit and every chance they see to take advantage of you they will. Don't develop an attitude because think you shouldn't have to follow a certain set of rules. You will be asked to fill out a contract tracing form pretty much everywhere you go with name, address, phone#, ect, you are required to wear a facemask at all times in public. Also you will have to have your temperature taken and show proof of vaccination to enter most establishments. That's just how things are now so if you have even a slight problem with this stay home. The cops would have no problem whatsoever of hauling you to the Barangay hall and / or extorting money from you. If you are anti-vaccination you definitely don't want to come here. To begin with you probably won't be able to board a flight but if you did get here without being vaxed there is very little you will be able to do.

There is still plenty of fun to be had but get used to having your temperature taken and filling out a form every time you go anywhere. If you go to 3 restaurants a day and 10 bars yes you will fill out 13 forms and have your temperature taken 13 times. Granted there are some places that are a little more relaxed than others but look for the cops to be on the prowl to fine any foreigner that thinks their rules do not apply..

Well, he's actually spot on in his assessment. It shouldn't actually be in the Stupid Section as it is generally fact. What is there to disagree with? He definitely won't win the award as it is not stupid at all. He is one of the few mongers on this board who's not afraid of speaking the truth.

The Philippines tends to attract more rock spiders than any other country. Many of them chose their profession carefully beforehand so that they can carry out their activities unabated for longer. Preferred professions are low level diplomat, NGO do gooder, missionary and teacher. I know of a pathetic dentist in my country who travels to the Philippines each to provide free "dental care" to the dirt poor villagers in unknown provinces. I wonder how much dental work and how much kiddy fiddling goes on?

Good report here on the craziness sweeping Manila where, some months ago, they forced a curfew breaker to jump himself to death. Strike this country off your list for the foreseeable future. The claim that the Philippines could get ahead of the / any curve is laughable. When the elephants fight, only the grass gets hurt. Saudi Arabia, ally of the US and Israel, is now threatening countries in its cross hairs with deporting its citizens and thereby further crashing the economies of those countries. We have the forthcoming World Cup in Qatar, a byword for slavery and sleazy NGOs.
