A little while ago, I mentioned that I was thinking about moving to Mexico and getting a place. The issue is that my employer may not be enthusiastic about me using their equipment out of country. For those tech savy folks, will they know that I am connecting from an international location when I connect my laptop to VPN?

You're the one who posted a fantabulous tale of swaggering into Mexico and telling the agents to fuck off and you're not taking shit from anybody. Had you left it there we could have just chalked it up to another fantasy for the entertainment of the bros. But then you added that you live in Mexico, perhaps to give yourself more street cred, or something. But that opens a hole in the narrative. If you're living in Mexico, or at least if you're following the law while living in Mexico, then you'll have permanent resident papers and can cross in the locals line and no FMM is required. Unfortunately, that doesn't make a very interesting story, and you wouldn't look like the hero. Frankly, I'm not sure why you didn't spin it as you being some sort of Johnny Badass, scoffing at the laws of Mexico, and living wherever you damn well please. I would go to Otay. Anybody can cross through Otay, no questions asked. But, I knew that wouldn't be necessary.
