LOL. A buddy of mine that I met from this board is Asian American. None of that shit happened to him in Medellin. Same with a Filipino buddy that I work with. They were just like anybody else there. Hilarious.

I've been hangin in Colombia / Medellin for over 20 years now.

As a generalization, the humble Colombianos could care less about race, skin color, etc.

They truly have bigger problems and concerns.

When I've encountered any type of racism, it was from the occasional snooty look from some of the more aristocratic types in the more affluent areas, as I enjoy the company of the morenas, and beautiful chocolate latinas, and I'm a light skin guy.

Obviously I've never walked in this Asian poster's shoes, however, I'd be be surprised to actually see la gente in el Centro treating him poorly because of his race.

To be honest, the most I ever hear about an Asian guy is when they've called a few of my Asian buddies, "Chino lindo", however, it was definitely endearing.

The poster may have been having a bad and unlucky day, because I can't imagine why anyone would make that stuff up.

Like I said, I've never walked in his shoes.

First of all, the admins moved it to this thread. I had no input on that. Secondly, I call your opinion garbage because it's garbage. If it had any validity whatsoever, I wouldn't call it garbage. Develop better opinions.

My opinion was based on around 400 hours spent in El Centro, over about 5 months. I was there at all times between 9 am and 11 pm. The few times I was there after 11 pm I taxied in and out, so my opportunity to observe anything on the street was limited.

Granted, I did not directly observe anyone behaving in the manner you described. Nor did I hear of anyone behaving in that way towards any Asians. In fact, other than a couple of hookers along Veracruz that tried to grab onto me, and one hooker that succeeded in grabbing a guy I was walking with, I didn't see any gringo, white, black or Asian accosted in any way remotely close to what you say happens constantly.

I get emotional because I have a low tolerance for incompetence. I have no patience with people who, for whatever reason, spread complete bullshit.

Thanks. My observation suggests otherwise. I will keep studying it.

Seriously? That's a load of garbage. I was fortunate enough to meet and hang out with a few different guys with Asian heritage. All of them spent at least some time in El Centro. Not one of them mentioned anything like that, or showed any hesitation to visit El Centro. I've also seen dozens of Asian tourists in Plaza Botero, since I enjoy sitting there and people watching.

Majority of Colombians, especially low estrato Colombians, don't give half a fuck about race. All of the conversations I have had with Colombians showed they couldn't understand why the US is so hung up on race.

If you walk with white persons, these pathetic don't do these to you. Some Asians told me that its because of these idiots, rather than crime, its not worth spending time in Centro. Majority of Colombians, specially those in low strata, are racist and sexist, and just like other racists in general, they don't know that they are.

    1. I am not a drinker what-so-ever, much much more of a fanatic for la crippa. Does anyone have experience scoring grade-A product? I have zero interest in trying to get any Miley-Cyrus out there just not a fan of anything that makes you alert and edgy, that is what work is for not your leisure at least my IMO and I am well aware of the dangers of associating myself with narco-traffico. What am talking about right here is more about the love of the mean mean green. .

    1. Ownership. Their board, their rules, their decisions. They decide based upon what they think is best for the board. Not everyone will agree, but it's a private business, not a democracy. We don't get to vote on it.

    2. Experience. They sort through 100's of stupid posts every day and need to decide which ones to block, which ones to comment on and which ones to move to a thread like this one.

Agree with you. My standard rate is an iPhone X. I refuse the service if they want my credit card too.

Yep, all in your behavior. That's why hipsters and non profit workers can rent and live in sketchy hoods and never have a problem.

    Thank you.

Although I'm amazed by your deep knowledge and the recommendations nobody could ever offer, I just want stats.

My advice would be, fuck statistics because it depends on the individual. If you look like a tough Latino you won't be messed with. But if you are really dumb you can be robbed in El Poblado too.

    My advice:

    1. Have the mindset of "Glass is already broken" I. E "You are going to be robbed" so keep your cards and iPhone at room and only take minimum cash and a cheap phone to Santa Fe.

    2. Take help of a senior member on this forum for first few trips to Santa Fe. Woodman09 seems to be recommended on the forum..

    Statistics LOL.

    Yes, that's what I said.

The statistics aren't relevant to the poster, but if he wants to make himself one, all he has to do is wave his iPhone around like the other guy.
