I am not lying about the prices I pay. In plaza botero and around the Centro area I pay 40 mil and I pay 9 mil for the hotel if I go hotel botero real. First of all you get a bank account with a debit card that doesn't charge any foreigner ATM fees or currency conversion fees. Two that come to mind are capital one and schwab however there are probably more. Then you go an ATM in Colombia that doesn't charge any fees to withdrawl. Up until recently this included Davivienda, Caja Social, BBVA, and Banco Pichincha. (It appears now to only be Caja Social and Pinchicha).

Anyways by combining the proper bank account with the proper ATM you don't pay any fees whatsoever, and you get COP at the midmarket rate listed on Google (from 2 days prior) so you would get over 3900 pesos per dollar if you went and made a withdrawal today using this method (not 3500 as you say).

And bringing in USD notes and then changing them at a money change place such as in the airport is just stupid and then you will get ripped off. Also paying in "crisp $100 usd bills" is also stupid and asking to get ripped off. But hey you're the man with all the experience so you should already know that, but instead you are telling guys to pay with $100 usd bills-- go figure.
